The gf and I are headed to Savannah/Tybee Island for the weekend in the a.m. any of y'all know some restaurants or sports bars we should try downtown?
Mrs Wilkes. Way better than Paula's place. Also, AJs Dockside Diner in Tybee is great. Beautiful view and great seafood.
"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
We just spent a weekend there last month and my favorite dinner was at the Moon River Brewing Co. on Bay Street. Great craft beers and a wonderful atmosphere.
AJs is on our list. We have been to Tybee numerous times but not downtown. Thanks
Is that like smoky mountain brewery?
Honestly have never been to Smoky Mountain Brewery. Is it in Old City?
When we come to Knoxville these days, we rarely eat out because my sisiter in law loves to cook.
They have a pretty neat Wild Wings at the main square down town. Also, Tubby's on the river is good.
A friend of mine, UT Grad, and former manager of the Butcher Shop owns a couple of restaurants in Savannah. One of them is Blowin Smoke BBQ. I highly recommend giving it a try. Their website is:
Vintage Sports Tees
The Cotton Exchange on river street is a pretty good place for lunch. The wife and I ate there last summer. Also the wind and rose cafe in tybee island is a dive but has a good lunch special and ice cold beer.
If you are willing to spend a little cash on food, the Old Pink House is one of the best meals I've ever eaten. It's a cool place too. It will cost around $50 a person if you're drinking.
The best bar IMO is Churchill's pub on Bay st. which is right next to Moon River. The best thing that we did was, take the Haunted Pub Crawl. Lot's of fun, and a great way to bar hop in Savannah.
It's a great place and you're going to have a good time.
And for those who know soccer:
No, it's at Turkey Creek. There are also locations in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Maryville.

Will definitely check it out. The word "brewery" gets me every time!
I second that on the Old Pink House. I have been lucky enough to eat at some of the top places in NY and London and I would rather go to the Old Pink House.
Good atmosphere, good place to watch a game. But unless you get the ribs — which are pretty much the same as Calhoun's, since they're owned by the same people — the food is really nothing special, IMO.
Ribs work for me! Great combination with a hoppy IPA.
