If he thought Jones was going to be here long term then he jumps at this offer because you never now when or if this chance will ever come available again.
Jones will be at UT longer than the Weasel will be at USC.
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
...or he has Marquis Lee returning and thinks that it isnt the right time? i cant really read that he doesnt think Jones will be here long from this situation. i really dont think that is a plausible assumption in this case.

A. Jones just signed a 6 year deal with a broker AD, he ain't going anywhere.
B. Tee Martin will always have opportunities to coach WR's. Look at his WR corp this yearwe may have had more talent, they had more production.
C. In terms of his career, tough to argue that being the WR coach at UT (not a lot of talent coming back there this year) is better for his career than USC (Just looking at how they have recruited that position)/
I disagree with op. His family and future probably had more to do with it than anything....
Or perhaps he thought it'd be an excellent professional opportunity to coach two potential Heisman candidates and move up to a coordinator position after Kiffin is gone. Who knows for sure.
MAYBE his wife said no i am not leaving LA ...
It's raining down votes up itt
Butch Jones. Who???
Tee disagrees with you and he voted with who he chose to work for. Why is stating the obvious so hated on here. It is obvious Tee would rather stay and work for Kiffin where he has to fly across the country just to get to his recruiting ground.
If Tee thought Jones was going to be here long term he would be here today. Don't know how you can even begin to argue that point.
You mean his wife form St Louis?
Dumb point. As posted earlier, Butch will be at UT longer than Kiffin will be at USC. And if Butch were to leave for some reason, the next coach would keep Tee just like Butch kept Graham. Tee has a great job even if it is for Kiffin.
Home is where the heart is. Not necessarily where the heart starts beating.
Tee has had a different job every year. That doesn't look good on your resume. That's another factor.
Another is the WRs he will be coaching. Better, IMO, than Tennessee's.
No one knows what Kiffin came back with . Maybe lots more money. Maybe a better title.
Bottom line is that this is truly no big deal. We are talking a WR coach here. We need to suck up our typical everybody hates us butthurt and move on.
Actually, it's "obviously" the opposite. His goal, like most coaches, is to be a head coach. He knows Jones is here for the long term and Kiffy will probably be gone after next season. He'll have a much better chance at the HC position at SC if he sticks it out for another year.

Op makes no sense. Jones will be here for at minimum 3-4 yrs. asst coaches aren't worried about what will happen 4 yrs from now with head coach. They are hoping they will have a promotion by that time
Absolutely no correlation
The troll just ate really well this morning.
You are right...Only T and his wife know for sure, but T isn't gonna get an OC at USC after being a WR coach.
I don't think the OP's comment is that much of a stretch.. I don't agree with it, but who's to say it's not a possibility?
Your team. All the time.
Look at it this way Tee chose to work for a guy who cheats by deflating footballs on the sidelines and by switching player's jerseys mid-game. He chose to work for the guy who took the preseason #1 ranked team in America and lead them to a 5 loss season. It is what it is.
