Ok, kiddos. First pitch is 40 minutes from now. Go ahead and make your predictions on the game tonight, and then we'll discuss the game as it happens. I'm personally picking the Braves, 5-2. We could see a situation where whoever gets the lead first probably wins. If the Braves get the ball to the bullpen with the lead, turn out the lights, party's over. But if the Cardinals jump on the Braves early, the Braves offense might not be consistent enough to climb back in the game. Either way should be a good game! Let's hear your thoughts, guys! Enjoy the game!
Not saying anything bad about the Braves' bullpen - Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel in particular - but the Cardinals have had quite a bit of success against those guys. I believe three of Kimbrel's blown saves last year came against the Cardinals, and Venters had a loss or two last year against St. Louis. So I don't think I would view a late Braves lead as completely safe.

I'll say 3-2 Braves. As good as the Cardinals' offense can be, it's very inconsistent. And even if they keep it close late, I don't trust their bullpen to preserve a late tie or anything like that.
Yeah, but I think last year was last year. Kimbrel has had a heckuva year this year, his stats are unbelievable. Venters has really come on in the 2nd half after struggling a bit at the beginning. No lead is ever a sure thing in the playoffs though, you're right about that.
Really worried about McCan not starting. I know he's been injured, but still...
Pretty good 1st inning by Medlin. Braves really need to put a run on the board here
McCann has really been struggling with shoulder and knee injuries. Might need surgery after the season. Knee injuries really limit his effectiveness behind the plate, and Ross is a really good defensive catcher. We can make up for McCann production elsewhere, but Ross is a sneaky good hitter too.
I actually think starting Ross was one of the smartes thing Freddi did and not a lot of managers would have the "courage" to sit him when he needed to be sit
I do too. Plus it could give us more pop off the bench in the late innings. I dont care how hurt McCann is, he still will put fear in the opposing team.
What a catch by Heyward! In the sun and everything, very, very difficult.
Would be nice to see the Braves bat through the pitcher here
Happy either way. Either the hometown Cards win and I get to enjoy it or Braves win and I know my Brave friends in Vol Country get to enjoy the playoffs.
Win win for me.
Holy Cow!! Freddie looks like a genius now!!!
Too right! I love that umpire back there! Gave Ross an extra swing!
I'm in transit right now, but I'm loving MLB At Bat. AND THE BRAVES LEAD!!!!!!!
Ross is the boss, and I called the shot after the time out strike out!
Dude, Ross would be starting for most other teams, I think. Definitely the best back-up catcher in MLB right now.
I agree. Braves are so lucky to have him.
Chipper's too hyped up. He almost never makes a throwing error.
Chip's the last guyI expected to make an error in the postseason
Ouch, Chipper's error cost the Braves 3 runs. Good of the Cardinals to take advantage of that though. It's still early.
I know hindsight is 20-20, but an 8-hole hitter never, ever bunts, with a runner on 3rd. Ever. Especially with the pitcher up next. I understand he was trying to get on base, but in that situation, you've gotta look for something to drive. Something you can send to the gaps.
Agree. Simmons was doing that on his own and it was a bad decision.
Yeah, he was tryin to do too much. Rookie mistake. Oh well, top of the order up for the Braves.
