frustrated, dispirited, disenchanted and downright pissed off, but who do we go after now? Who is realistically left out there?
FWIW, here is my list and I am interested in seeing who you guys like or think may be a possibility:
1. Fedora - almost scared to be told no again
2. HOF Coach Phil Fulmer
3. Chaney - he is well liked and undefeated in SEC play
4. Butch Davis?
5. I have nothing else . . .
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Add Pelini probably.
I like Paul Rhoads a lot but I haven't seen his name mentioned.
I think we ask Fedora one time. Show him a offer if he refuses move on to Butch Jones. After that put names on a dart board and go to tossin'.
I would start with Butch Davis and pray we don't have to go farther than that.
There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction. - Winston Churchill
Roman!! He wants it! He'll work hard for us. VFL!
roman.. san fran OC!!!! he wants the job give him a shot
Greg Roman is the only answer at this point. Pelini is a disaster. Go ask a Nebraska fan about him. They would drive him to Knoxville.
I'll say again - tressel
DIdn't say I wanted Pelini. His name has been mentioned as fitting the profile and he has SEC experience. He's probably not making Gundy money at Nebraska.
Out of box thought: he has been mentioned and has been said to be interested!
Greg Roman - 49ers off coordinator
He would prolly try to bring their d coordinator (Vic Fangino)
Has pro experience and time with harbaugh at Stanford...
Know it's a totally different animal recruiting in SEC but he could hire some stud recruiters and we might could have something!!!
Oops took me that long to post that! Last post I saw when I started typing it was the one bout butch davis! Sry guys, forgive me
keep graham and pittman.. pull tee from usc.. lets roll.. go get roman!!!!
Go get roman
Doubt Roman could get Fangio to come but he would be fine. You wonder if he'd leave in the middle of a playoff run though. Might have to wait til late January for him to be full time.
Here here - should have already hired Davis rather than get turned down by two scrubs.
I just switched from Volquest, I've been saying Roman since Gruden said no! I love him and he has a lake house in Rockwood!!!!
Take Kiffin and his old man........please!!!
Wasn't Petrino crucified for leaving Atlanta. I know this guy is an assistant, but the 49ers are in the playoff fight. Wouldn't he stay through the pro season. And when is the last time a pro guy was successful making the transition? Or the other way around for that matter. Oh, I know, Schiano altho he's mildly succesful in his first year. Who was Schiano's mentor? Butch Davis. In order to understand why Butch Davis hasn't been approached you'd have to think Hart knows something about Davis and the NCAA that we don't know. At this juncture, I'm not willing to believe that Hart knows something we don't. Heck, I'm not even sure he knows half of what we know given the way he has handled this entire process. Have somethings been outside his control? Yep. but some things have and this is definitely not his finest hour. How many coaches has Hart hired in his tenures as AD here and elsewhere?
Chaney - undefeated in SEC play?
That's a good one.
In that case, hire me. I'm also undefeated in SEC play.

Fedora has signed an extension, he is not coming; Phil Fulmer is a pipe dream, Chaney would mean we could not find a coach, it would look bad nationwide after we have searched this long, Butch Davis is a very good coach, he does have some baggage. Davis would bring in a good staff, he has good conectons in the south.
Since we are having trouble getting the retreads why not look at a few young guns and see what they might bring. Kliff Kingsbury at A&M might be worth talkIng to.
I don't think we'd need to worry about Greg Roman making the "successful transition" from Pro to college. You have to remember he was with Harbaugh at Stanford and 49ers. Offenses were successful at both places.
Larry Fedora to me should be left at UNC...I mean seriously LARRY FEDORA?????....come on...every time I have asked someone to tell me why Larry Fedora should be the next VOL Coach all I get is stuttering and then silence.....Coaching at Southern Miss and then UNC doesn't prove squat...
Larry Fedora reminds me of a Dave Clawson type hire, Looks promising based on past record etc...but on game day is a different story....I mean can you see Larry Fedora beating Bama, Florida, UGA, on a consistent basis?
Not where I'd go next, but why is he a disaster? He's never won fewer than 9 games as a HC.
Do you see anybody beating Bama, Florida, and UGA on a consistent basis? lol
