AJ Johnson is in the backfield? Man, had we not gotten the 4th down after that in the 4th I'd be livid. Is it just all around bad play calling sometimes that sinks us? Id love to see Dooley succeed!
No but Pig sure fooled em with his option pass, I still expect to see A.J give to C.P. on the jet sweep at some point. that motion sets it up and it has not been done yet.
Agreed, but when AJ comes in on that 3rd and short late in the game everyone knows whats up. Bama did and so did USC. Again, I hope Dooley works out but that is just poor play calling and anticipation.
The wildcat is effective because the QB can take it wherever he sees a gap. AJ has a real knack for it and hasn't been stopped very often. I think it's a great short yardage package, particularly now that we've shown there are more options than just AJ taking the direct snap and going for the sticks.
I agree, I do like him at the goal line but the last couple of short yardage plays they don't even respect the motion or the pass--it is dam the torpedoes and we seem to come up wasting a down. Like it when it works and question it when it does not I guess it is true can't have it both ways--a win and it would not be an issue.
Yep, I love the option but I I feel like when any team see'a AJ i the backfield they load the middle and stop the play. Dooley has to learn to take advantage of that situation and adjust.
Chanel's play calling has gotten so bad this year, if it weren't for Bray's great passing today and the WRs we would've got destroyed.
I was not a fan of that play call. It was too predictable. More importantly at that point in the game they couldn't get to Bray or cover our WRs as we saw on the next play. No need to get gimmicky.
Our wildcat package makes no sense.
