Yes, I'm a Gator. Love my school but not obnoxious and like to have real dialogue.
Was curious to see what Vol supporters expectations are for this year. I know a lot of your skill guys left but don't know much else.
To make it fair, Gators think our D will still be pretty stout. Offense is the area of concern. Most think it'll be improved (hard not to be from last year) but still an unknown commodity.
Look forward to seeing y'all in September.
Thanks for stopping by +1.
The offensive line is perceived to be our strength right now. The defensive front 7 will be really solid too. There are a lot of question marks at pretty much every other position. I'd say the Wrs and DBs have something to prove.
We'll have heart this year. I don't expect this team to ever give up.
Thanks for stopping by and a +1 to you. I think we're kinda in the same boat. We know our defense will be improved a lot from last year, particularly in the front-seven. However, we have major concerns at WR and QB because of a complete lack of experience. We have some talented players on offense, but they're just young. You will see a much tougher, more conditioned Tennessee football team that won't give up. Ever. Credit Coach Jones for that.
I think if you asked most UT fans, 6-6 would be a successful year. That's how I feel, at least. If this team can make it to a bowl game, I'd be very happy. I'm looking forward to September 21st in The Swamp. They'd better put it back on CBS where it belongs.

"What did he do? All he did was score!" - John Ward
I'll be thrilled with 7-5
Happy with 6-6
Not very happy with 5-7
No speed or homerun type players so it will be hard to get big leads. We have to hope that the o-line and running backs are good, and that the defense can get 2nd half stops.
QB, WR, DB are all wildcards. D Line and O line should be good but the 2nd team guys are unproven. We should bring more energy and be downhill on Defense. The D seemed to be thinking too much instead of just playing last year. I thing going back to the 43 will help and I believe it fits our personel better. Plus I believe we have competence at the coaching position which should make a difference!

No speed? Pig Howard and Devrin Young run sub 4.3's. Speed isn't the issue, it's getting in and out of cuts more fluid than a subpar receiver. Plus getting timing down with the QB, no matter who it is.
Thanks. I've heard the game is already set at 3:30 on CBS. Ready for y'all to get back to where you were. Always loved when both teams were ranked high and met in September.
I personally think we'll be an 8-4 or 9-3 team. We could improve if our offense is better but not holding my breath.
Next year is when I see the Tennessee/Florida rivalry starting to get back to where it used to be. I think last years game was the swing game for either team. Gators obviously won and went on to great success, while the Vols never seemed to recover their swagger.
This year will depend on QB and CB play. If we have a QB grab the reigns of this team and live up to their potential early on, the Vols might surprise some people on offense. The WR may not be great (yet), but they should be sufficient if a QB steps up and makes it happen. Defensively, switching back to the 4-3 should immediately shore up our run stop and force everything back in to Mt. McCullers. Most of the O-line will be draft picks, but I believe Dan McCullers shows out as the best DT in college this year. That means if our below average speed DB can keep the WR in front of them and make an occasional play, we might have a chance of slowing down some of the passing games around the league.
A lot of "ifs, maybes and buts". I have low expectations for the season, but I hope for 6-6 for the upper classmen that have stuck it out and really dedicated themselves to this university for the last few years. It been hard on all of us, but brighter days have to come eventually.
Is volwr88 Lou Holtz in disguise? Lol.
I expect a tough, competitive game when y'all show up in the Swamp. Always is. I'm sure y'all feel the same in saying I just want my team to win.
I like your style, vingator. Are there others of your species that are likeminded? We haven't experienced many of them.
Seriously, good luck to you guys this fall, except on September 21.
Believe it or not, there are quite a few level headed Gators who can have good dialogue/banter without taking it too far. I appreciate everyone here being hospitable as I have had my own issues with other Vols before.
Thanks for all the responses.
I would be a fool if I refused to admit that we have a few crazies as well.
The last time I was in Gainesville on business, I tripped over your Swamp Head Brewery. Excellent products all around. Have you ever been there or tried their craft beers?
Offensive line is probably UT's most solid piece which will help with a young QB. Our defense will have some improvement by just going back to 4-3. Right now there really isn't that one player that stands out as the obvious go to on either side of the ball. We'll just have to wait and see how this new staff does once the season starts and see who stands out.
if it was lou holtz it would have looked more like this-
A tired beat up Volth team will roll into the thswamp after playing Oregon the week before. I wudnt worry about Tennethee.
You guysth will be coming off a early open date and healthy. Ur record will be determined by LSthU, Georgia, and SthC jr...
P.sth. I hope ur team believesth everything I thsaid above.
