It is obvious the guy can coach, and from the go i have supported the hirer. However, recruiting is the life blood of the program. Thus, i am led to ask an important question: What grade would this staff give Martin in recruiting?
Seems like he has reached for guys, but I have no clue.
I'm not staff, but landing Stokes proved to me the man can recruit with the best of them
Oh yeah, he can for sure recruit, i guess it is more with some of the "risks" that he has taken. Now, i am no talent expert, so i could be way off on some of these, but it seems like we have really reached on some cats from what i have read other places.

One more thing, i am in no ways questioning Martin as our Coach, i think he is a perfect fit for our university. I personally think the team of Dooley, Martin, and Serrano represents the culture of Tennessee better than many combinations around the country could.

I'll throw my two cents in. I thought at the time he signed his first class he was reaching a bit too, however I really liked what I saw out of Yemi Makanjoula, and Josh Richardson in year 1. I've also heard a ton of good things (from Wes and others) about Quinton Chievous. Dwight Miller has been marginal, but has been good at times, and given some quality minutes, about what I expect form JUCO guys. Washpun didn't work out, but you get that in any program regarless of the talent level. I love what CCM is doing, and love the way he handles himself. I'm really excited about the length he's bringing in at guard and on the wing. Like I said, just my two cents.
I don't think he's had any other choice than to reach so far. He hasn't had time to build those relationships. Once he has (starting this year) i think he'll pull in some major talent.
My thoughts from the board-- It's the chicken/egg problem. After this upcoming season Martin's recruiting success will continue to improve as potential recruits see what Martin is doing here (on and off the court). Recruiting-wise (from this fan), I like his approach.
