I get it that everyone did not make good grades in English class, and that some folks can't spell cat if you give them the c and the t.
But it does matter. Just like you wouldn't wear a green plaid suit to a black tie dinner. You just can't tell all those people in black tuxes to get a life. If you think "I seen" and "he done" is passable, think again.
People do judge you by the language you use, even on an informal chat board. And time isn't an excuse. Their and there are the same number of keystrokes.
RockytopATL and I have made our living with words, as do the board mods. None of us expect perfection, but we also don't expect contempt and hostility to the language.
Inevitably, this same thread comes up on every message board across the web. It's stupid.
I feel sorry for the people that judge others on an informal chat board about something as trivial as this. Read the content for what it is. Then realize it's not a piece of published literature, that will undergo a process of editing and several rough drafts. Or get a life.
Even the board mods have stated they can't be perfect, with the amount of material they churn out in a short amount of TIME. (Someone griped at them once for a few mistakes.)
So in conclusion,

@Chartervol. Obviously you have a much lower threshold for what you consider contemptuous and hostile than me. I respect your opinion but I disagree with it. I am sure W/R/K appreciate your comparison of the site to a black tie dinner. Meaning no disrespect, however, I choose to view the board as more of a BBQ. If somebody has a stain on their shirt, I'll still hand them a beer and ask them how their doing. The subject of proper laundering practices would never come up.
[yes, there is a typo in the second to last sentence...enjoy]

OK, fine. Don't wear a thong to a barbecue. Point stands.
Whom will we hire as the next coach?
Dammit, dude! Ain't got my Harbrace handy, but that seems wrong. Whom, who, Jesus.

I heard Gruden can't spell.I get your point Coop.
In slang terms you cut the grass and water the greens? But superintendent is a much more professional title I understand, in retrospect your a lawn keeper
I hate to be such a grammar Nazi, but "loosing" is actually a word. It just isn't the word that most of the people were intending to use. According to Collins English Dictionary, it is the celebration of one's 21st birthday in Yorkshire dialect.
Also, your use of commas was improper, but I'm not going to be that picky tonight. Watch yourself in future posts, though.
just got real, you dig? Ima be watching you now.
...and I lied. I LOVE being a grammar Nazi! The fun has disappeared a lot over the years as the memes have corrected most people that actually care. The rest of the people are like, "you say 'tomato', I say 'chicago'. Same difference."
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.
