Ha! 5 fouls.
Too many it is pitiful
So are Tennessee and Louisville getting punished in this game for the lack of officiating in the previous game? What did the previous game have to do with this particular game?
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
Yeah there have been some weak-sauce calls for sure
And 2-17 from 3 doesn't help.
2 of 17 is killing us we need to make a few threes down the stretch or a Freaking free throw shot
I dont understand the philosophy of this kind of officiating. Punish this game because of another. Really odd logic to me
There's one !!!!!! About time risky shot though
Cant argue that three by Jude.. Gusty. Then simmons wow. Now bad defense and a Simmons Travel
Well that's about it we can't play terrible and expect a win
Well it is over. That was nasty. Great decision by the Louisville point guard to push it and dish it for the easy lay up. Cardinals up Ten
Simmons has been terrible tonight. We look horrible
"Those with the most invested are the last to surrender."
Credit to Louisville. They beat Baylor and Tennessee on their way to the Final Four. What else could you ask for them to do? Props
That one stings it's one thing to lose but to a team that you should mop the floor with and really are that much better then talent wise that was pitiful bad shooting and horrific at the free throw line
Proud of the Lady Vols! Lots to overcome this season and they did a great job of dealing with all the changes.
TN got in too big of a hole. Furious rally, but not enough
Schimmel sisters are awesome. I'm pullin for the Cards in the Final 4. Taber played well in 2nd half. Overall it was a great year for Lady Vols basketball . They were picked 5th in conference pre-season. It's a shame they laid an egg tonight with Cal waiting in the semi-finals.
Gutted for Taber and Miko. They did everything they could. I think the occasion got to some of the other players but that's what happens when you have a young team. Seeing Taber drop to the floor sobbing was just heartbreaking.
It's a painful way to end what has been a very good season overall. The players coming back will learn from it.
Lack of defensive intensity in the first half really hurt tonight. Sucks for the ladies but I hope they learn from this and come back stronger next year.
Although I am disappointed, this finish is not too shabby for a team loaded with Freshmen and Sophomores. With only 2 seniors, they should be something special to watch in the next few years!
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Tough loss, but a great building block. Lady Vols have a great class coming in, now they can build to the foundation. I think HW did a great job with this team
Win or lose this program did what it needed to to keep the future bright. I think that recruits were in a wait and see approach on what the future may be with the Lady Vols and reaching the Elite 8 with a first year head coach and exceeding expectations on the year will only calm those concerns going forward. This team is already ahead of schedule and although they lose two important seniors they have a very good young nucleus plus a great recruiting class including the National player of the year. With Mercedes Russell, Graves, and Izzy down low next year it will be tough for teams to match up. Simmons at the 2 and Carter/Massingale at the point they should have a very talented starting 5. The bench should be athletic and deep. Burdick, Carter, Jones, Phillips, Moore, the two freshman guards. I'm not sure a team in the country can match our front line next year.
Mercedes Russell leads with 16 pts and 12 boards and Jordan Reynolds adds a double double as well in the McDonald's all American game
CHICAGO -- Mercedes Russell had 16 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the West to a 92-64 win over the...
This team is so talented offensively that I think the coach had trouble getting them to focus on defense. That really hurt them against the good teams this year. I think the new assistant coaches will eventually get that message to the players. I saw Elzy screaming at the team to play defense during the time outs. As for the new players coming in Russell and Reynolds are outstanding but Tucker is out of this world good. We would have had three McDonald's if she had had a senior season. Also, I think Carter would have been the starting point guard by season's end if not for injury. Simmons is a puzzle. She is a great talent but freezes up in big games. I can see both Reynolds and Tucker taking playing time from her next year. We'll have Russell, Harrison, Graves at the 4/5, Simmons, Burdick, Jones, Tucker, Reynolds, at the 2/3 and Massengale, Carter at the 1. All of the guards except maybe Jones can shoot the 3. Burdick is probably more of a 3/4 but can still shoot the 3. This is a really solid line-up with no weaknesses off the bench. Let's pray for one year of no major injuries. (P.S.-I think if Carter had played the year they would have made it to the final 4. And, with Russell we should have no trouble pulling rebounds next year.)
