I love that we are getting all of these recruits but it is time Butch and company reel in some big uglies for the line on both sides. These guys have to know that majority of our lines are done after this year.
Definitely. The good news is we have around 20 spots available.
Agree. Love what's going on though.
I've got a theory for how this will play out...
O-line is a position with our offensive style that we don't NEED the highest ranked players...
We need system guys. Players who are agile and can cut block and get down field and make blocks. I don't think we will be taking many road grader 340 pound guards.
Now D-line We will be guaranteed to take 1 probably 2 JUCO DT's. We need a Sheldon Richardson badly. We seem t be in good shape with a couple DE's.
No need to worry yet. Do you know why. Because Great Players want to play with other great players. We will have 1/2 dozen players playing in All-star games, we have a staff constructed on continuity, there won't be a lot of changes. Make a bowl game, keep positive momentum, and we will reel in a top 5 class...
I'm starting to get the itch for CFB season already and it's to early. I don't know if it's because the Flyers missed the playoffs for only the 2nd time in 20 years, or because the Phillies have a bunch of overpaid stiffs and were shut out by a Pitcher with 2 career wins tonight. But I'm all in. Go Vols.
They know. IMO, there are a couple reasons why we don't have a lot of linemen committed yet:
1) Evaluation on linemen takes a bit longer than skill players; usually the "big uglies'" recruitments don't heat up until the summer before their senior year when they have the opportunity to camp with the teams showing interest. Unlike skill players, lineman don't exactly have "highlight reels" of film to show recruiters, so coaches have to camp linemen and get a one-on-one, fist-hand look at a lot of these guys before they decide to offer or pursue. It takes a lot longer for coaches to find "their guys" so to speak at O-Line and D-Line versus receiver, quarterback, safety/corner, etc. because lineman take more diligence and more time to evaluate.
2) Contrary to what a lot of our fans say; we're in the hunt for a LOT of good lineman on both sides, (Charles Mosley, Orlando Brown, Alex Bars, Poona Ford, Dewayne Hendrix, etc) it's just that they aren't ready to pull the trigger yet. Most lineman will wait until their senior year to commit, and some even drag it out to signing day because that's when their recruitments heat up the most.
Don't worry, man. Butch and Co. know what they're doing...they know the situation even better than we do at OL, DL, and LB. It'll all pan out eventually and we'll get some big uglies before Signing Day. Remember: it's April of 2013. NSD in February 2014...there's a long way to go. I understand your concern; it's not often that we start off this hot on the trail, and we do seem to be getting a lot of skill players right now. However, it's gonna be ok. Butch will find the right guys.

CBJ will get it done. We still have 2/3 of the class to fill.
