I don't post a lot, but cannot stand to hear that UCONN win their 8th title and that Geno is just as good as the GREAT Pat Summit!
I don't think so!
There will never be another Pat Summit and Holly Warrick is going to be a great coach as well!
unfortunately it looks like Geno will pass summit in championships and perhaps wins it sucks I could have seen another 10 -15 years out of pat and another 3-4 championships but early onset dementia is a killer
What's even worse is the people around town that wanted to see this happen.
same people who wanted Fulmer gone and currently want CCM gone as well and the same people who when we are sitting at 3-5 heading into November will cry that butch wasn't the right coach for the job and why couldn't we get gruden or some big splash hire
I cannot comment on this subject because of a lack of anything good to say about the UCONN womens basketball program. This is my comment. Go Vols
There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
The Legion of the Miserable
Not a fan of Auriemma's personality here either, but his postgame comments surprised me when he said it was an honor to even have his name mentioned with Summitt who was the greatest women's basketball coach of all time. Gained a little ground in my book. Needless to say he is a great coach of the game regardless of how he acts off the court.

Geno actually went to HS with my Dad and Phil Martelli (St. Joes Head Coach)...
He came from very little and worked his way up. While he can be a sleezeball, he is a tremendous coach and motivator. 8-0 in Championship games to, that cant be understated. He isn't done winning either. That Freshman he had this year was a stud, looked like Diana Taurasi.

One of the biggest issues most people ever had with the guy and the reason Pat ended the rivalry games was because of perceived dirty recruiting. He was known to speak poorly of UT to recruits to get them to UCONN, but if anyone has watched Geno over the last few years, the guy has really be conducting himself as a class act. He was one of the first to reach out to Pat after the news broke of her disease and his daughter has even written some very heartfelt stories about the families experiences with Pat. Regardless of what started the controversy between Geno and Pat, he and his team worked very hard for their championship and the fact it happens to be his eighth, so be it and congrats to them. I am still proud that we had Pat Summit who set the bar so ridiculously high for everyone else try to aspire too.
Let me recant a bit. Geno is obviously a hell of a coach. His record is quite impressive. Some of his antics have been a turn off to me personally, but I will never doubt that coaching record.
Just curious, what antics are you referring to? Also, I know first hand why the series was canceled because I was working for the lady vols during the last season they played UCONN. The so called "dirty recruiting" he was accused of is laughable. I've got nothing but respect for him and his program.
Can't just leave it there... What's the story?
The numbers don't lie- Both are great women's basketball coaches!
