Hey guys. Can you elaborate or site some articles related to the problem with the athletics and academic conflict problems at UT? Thanks in advance.
SW good question. I have been wondering this myself. I know there was some issue regarding money and that seems to be resolved temporarily. I am concerned that the Athletics departments wants to push "lower standards". I just can't agree with this. UT wasn't very difficult when I was there (less than 4 years ago) and although I understand not every athlete comes with the same background/advantages I had growing up, I would not think that UT should sell itself short in the academics.
Here is an interesting article that talks about allowing athletes to major in athletics. Makes some sense:
Musicians can major in performance, even though they may not succeed professionally. Why not extend that same option to football players?
