The "Welcome Coach Butch Jones" page on Facebook is saying the Vols are switching to Nike...anyone hearing this?
And for those who know soccer:
Someone pinch me
The Adidas contract would have to expire first, and there's still a couple of years left on it if I'm not mistaken. That's not an official UT page, so i wouldn't put too much stock into what they claim.
Yeah I don't know why people wanna change so bad it's not like we are going to go to crazy Oregon jerseys and quite frankly I wouldn't want to. A cool alternate jersey once a seaon alright but the uniforms good and carries alot of tradition
Man I hope not.
You like Adidas better than Nike. I'd love to hear why. I'm a Nike apparel guy so I was not too happy when UT went over to Adidas
I'm not even sure what that means? Do you really think that Nike apparel is SOOO much higher quality than Adidas (or Reebok or Champions or whatever) that you only support Nike? Does such loyalty to an athletic clothing brand really exist? Do you just like their shoes better?
Or do you think that Nike does a better job than Adidas in terms of equipping and merchandising its collegiate partners? Or do you work for Nike (cause that would be a very reasonable explanation)?
I'm just curious. I don't really care that much whether we're Nike or Adidas or Reebok. It's all made in China anyways.
In all honesty the reason I really like Nike is there is a Nike outlet/factory store 10 mins from my house so I can get Nike gear cheap close to my house.
I believe Nike does the best job promoting their teams and is a plus in recruiting.
Also I'm very superstitious and our proud football program was still very proud and powerful when we were with Nike. Since we have gone to Adidas we have fallen off. I know it sounds silly but I Think the hiring of Coach Jones and a return to Nike would be an excellent combo to begin to bring our Vols back to prominence
EDIT: I don't work for Nike but I don't think that would be a bad job to have.

That is an entirely satisfactory and, IMO, acceptable answer. Thank you for responding.
I guess I'd also favor Nike for Tennessee, but I don't have any personal preference at all. And I really don't feel too strongly about it either way, although your point about Adidas possibly being bad luck (or something more sinister) is a good one. You (and some beer I've been drinking) have convinced me. Nike it is.
EDIT: This day and age, any (full-time) job is a good one to have.

Yeah I mean I like Adidas' gear almost as much or equally as much as Nike's but personally for me I'm going to go with Nike because its very affordable with the Nike Factory Store so close to my house.
And I would love to see UT go back to Nike but if it does not happen then I just hope that Adidas is all in for UT like the players, coaches, alums and fanbase are all in for getting UT back to the top where we belong.
And I completely agree about your last point. Any job today is a good one.
I'm much more concerned over the brand of football the team uses. I buy adidas mostly because they support the University, just like I buy Pilot gas when I can and am a Dish network subscriber. Having said all that if it made it easier for Tennessee to get rid of the Wilson footballs by switching to Nike then so be it.

If I'm not mistaken we make more $$ with adidas, and we have more freedom to say yes or no with changes to the uniforms, all sports involved.
I haven't worn anything with Nike on it in about four or five years and won't in the future (unless UT switches). Still resent the bullchit they pulled with the threats to kids wanting to attend UT's basketball camp a few years back.
I do not know any of the specifics of the deal Adidas has with UT or the one UT previously had with Nike. My views on the issue are purely superficial and based my own feelings FWIW
Unless, of course, you work in one of their Asian factories making that apparel 12 hours a day for pennies an hour. That might not be such a great job.
I have heard that too. I have been told that only a few programs have the contractual freedom to decline Nike uniform changes.
Purely my own opinion but I like Nike Team Apparel for fans better than Adidas. Better looking Polos, shirts, pullovers, hats etc
There are a handful of teams in the "A flight" for Nike, such as Bama and USC with that type of freedom, and I'm not positive that even schools like LSU are in that group. Not sure that Tenn could be guaranteed a top flight spot either. And i agree completely with Ezmoney, Nike does a far better job in fan apparel than adidas.
I'm just speaking for myself but I don't think I would be a member of Go Vols 247 if I was Asian and working in a sweat shop. If we have a member on here who works in a Nike factory in China or Malaysia that's great but I'm going to go out on a ledge and venture a guess that we don't.
But I completely agree with your point. Making Jordans would not be fun at all
The kroots love the Nike so I love the Nike.
