Here's the press release from UT:
Tennessee associate director of sports medicine Chad Newman has reported that freshman basketball player Derek Reese underwent a surgical procedure on his right shoulder to address a labral tear Tuesday at UT Medical Center.
Newman set an estimated recovery time at approximately six months.
Reese, a true freshman guard from Orlando, Fla., enrolled at UT for the second session of summer school. He joined the Volunteers on their recent exhibition tour of Italy but did not dress for any of the team’s four games due to his shoulder injury.

Hate it for the kid, but long term it may work out better for him because of the logjam this year.
Thanks for the update and I agree with ACV that it may work better for him and the Vols. Rehab will also allow him to develop some weight and strength. Still I hate it for the young man.
feel for the young man - going to be a player one day for us which is great news
GO BIG ORANGE!!!
Hoping for a speedy and full recovery Mr. Reese. You'll get your shot.
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
