Little late to the party but I'm absolutely in on this. Have more than enough weight I need to shed off.
If anyone else is interested and within traveling distance, I fully intend on running the Mini Marathon in Indianapolis next May. The event was just held last weekend. 13.1 miles and it's the largest mini marathon in the world. 2.5 miles of the race takes place on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track. It's a very cool event.
Moving to Knoxville tomorrow, plan on strapping on the running shoes Monday before or after work and getting at it.
My Dr actually advised me not to run on pavement or a treadmill. He said it breaks down your joints over time. He recommends exercising on an elliptical
Jumped on the scales this moring. If they are right I am down to 289. That is about 16 pounds in a month.
Never too late to this party. Glad you're with us. With so many of us finally getting healthier, the Vols fanbase is just going to continue getting deeper because most of us are adding years back on to our lives. Let us know what we can do to help. I'm sure most of these people would be thrilled to offer support and motivation.
Christmas of 2011 I broke my leg in half while I was on a steroid to help with a shoulder injury that was notorious for causing weight gain. In the 5 months it took my leg to go through the process of being in a cast and surgeries from the severity of the break I had gained almost 55 pounds. I was miserable, and over the next few week after I was able to walk again I added on another 10 pounds.... 3 years removed from playing college soccer and I weighed 270 pounds and was only 23 years old. I couldnt take it anymore, I changed my whole routine got my legs back under me for real. In one month I dropped 27 pounds. The next month and a half after that I dropped 33 pounds. In 2 and a half months I lost 60 pounds. I was eating small small portions of food about 6 to 8 times a day with an occasional steak or some ribs. I stopped drinking everything besides water(literally). No alcohol, no sodas, tiny amounts of bread and carbs. At that point my weight loss hit a wall. So I decided to maintain my weight loss through winter and do some good cardio and abb stuff indoors and aim more for physique than weight. Ive got my body pretty close to where i was before the weight gain. Now in two weeks it is time again. I weigh 225 pounds, so over the last 7 months I have put on 9 pounds of muscle and 6 pounds of fat. Only thing left to go is just a little bit of love handles. By July 4th I WILL weigh 200 pounds. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
Rock On Rocky Top....
I started my diet in Sept and at 63 pounds lost. I still weigh 233. When I get below 220 going to skydive in dandridge. I have wanted to do that forever. Bungee jumped twice 18 years ago and loved it.
Guys...after doing a little research I found an app that allows you to check for healthier foods while dining out. Its called Mint Nutrition. It cost $1.99 but it has a lot of restaurants and add more daily. That has been the most difficult thing about this but this app may help put me over the hump. Just thought I would share.
MRI today. One of the osteophytes (bony, arthritic protrusion) is touching a nerve. Need surgery. Should be minor with a 1-2 week recovery though. Going to get 3 osteophytes taken out.
So...a small blip.
Hang in there and eat good food when you eat. You will do fine. Couple weeks rest will do you some good.
Well...how is everyone doing? I'm down 8 pounds in a little over 2 weeks and am getting stronger by the workout.
I am down 21 lbs in about 4 weeks. I am a little skeptical thought since it is my home scale. It never matches up with the doctor's office scale. I go for a weigh-in with the doc on June 5th. I am feeling much better and my waist line has shrunk to the point that I will have to buy a new belt very soon.
I want to lose 25 pounds. Slingshot.......engage.
lost about 11 lbs over the last month but feel a ton better !! still have almost 12 lbs to go
