BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Embarrassingly, it was when they broke that long run in the second half of the Missouri game. I thought maybe they figured out the 3-4 defense after only giving up just over 60 yards in the first half. I was at the concession getting a Petro and remember saying out loud - I'm done!
Mississippi State game from me. Luckily I had slept through the game, having passed out early that day given it was our homecoming. Waking up from my drunken stupor to that kind of news was infuriating and the last straw for me.
Then came the Missouri game. I've never been so embarrassed to be a Tennessee fan in my life. I was in Ohio, surrounded by Buckeye fans watching an Ohio State game. I'm sure it was payback for giving my friends grief for being cheating bastards, but I lost all credibility with the Missouri debacle. That's when I went from jumping off the Dooley bandwagon to turning right around and trying to burn the bandwagon down.
I know it sounds easy to say now, but I always had some serious concerns about Dooley. I mean his record at La Tech worried me a lot. But it was UK in '11 that did it in for me. I still don't understand how you lose to a team playing a WR at QB. Mind boggling. I did wonder if I jumped off the train too early after the NSCU game, and after the UGA game. But Mizz cleared away any doubts. Sadly he was simply in over his head. Kinda like Sal.
I had to take "Precious" off of my christmas card list after the Missouri game

Like others have stated....it started with Miss St and ended with Mizzou for me.
There are many signatures in the world....this one is mine!
I knew after the Miss St game that he couldn't coach worth a lick. the jury was still out on him before that game imo.
Welcome to the Neighborhood SV. GO VOLS!
Right before he was hired and I saw he had a career losing record in the WAC. If you can't win in the WAC, there is no chance that you will be able to in the SEC. He was easily the worst SEC in the last 25 years.
to the board, Steel Vol! Happy to have you here!

Your team. All the time.
The previously noted "let the clock run out" Mizzou game was the last straw for me. I'm not sure I have ever felt so disgusted with a coaching decision as I was that day....
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
The day he was hired. The second I said "WHO?". As a Tennessee fan, that should have never happened.
