Southern Illinois. I'd love to take some course online with UTK just to say I went to school there as well.
Not sure I can make that happen, though.
Lipscomb University. Go Bisons!
Undergrad - Maryville College
Grad - Liberty University
UTK baby. I represent it every day as the lone Southern boy in my midtown Manhattan office. Love feeling like a distant representative of our school.
~The Volunteer in Brooklyn~
Undergrad- UT (the real one in east TN)
Graduate School - University of Texas at Dallas
Ok, no boos, please. University of Alabama, Huntsville. In fairness, this was just a practical decision - have been a UT fan since longer than I can remember. Remember being indignant (ok, pissed) when UT lost to Vandy in about '74 or '75. I was around 6 and listening to it by myself at a babysitters - I was hardcore even then.
As a (possibly) interesting aside, I nearly went to law school with CDD. My degree is in engineering and I took the LSAT on a lark in '91 or '92. Did really well on it and thought I might as well apply to law school and then decide if I really want to go. UGA was the best school whose application deadline hadn't passed when I decided to apply, so I did. Was accepted, but just decided I didn't want to be a lawyer a little quicker than CDD did.
Dammit, maybe I coulda got a sideline pass or something!
Law school--UTK '92
Oh, and winchestervol? Right choice on the law degree, most likely. At some point, for 90% of attorneys it dawns on us that you work harder for less money than you thought (and less money than all the people who hate lawyers think, too), and that you only get to truly "make a difference" and "help deserving people" 10% of the time, regardless which side you're representing. Hard not to get jaded and cynical in this profession, unless you only do adoptions.
Cue the immortal voice-over of the late Vincent Price: "Ah, yes, but by then it's too late. Much too late. Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-hah. AH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!
"Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat." Sir Robin's Minstrels.
Upvoted you for being honest and making me laugh! Union and Freed had some battles on the hardwood in the late 80's.
UTK 86. Dad went to UT in the 40s, and i'm also the proud father of my daughter who graduated from UTK, class of 2011.
ITC Ft. Benning, GA 82
SFQC Ft. Bragg, NC 83
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Did not go to college. Life University.
Undergrad- Cumberland College, Williamsburg, KY. most weekends were spent at UTK for those four years. Williamsburg was a small dry town and Knoxville was a 45 minute drive. We had friends who lived on campus at UT. Someone gave me tickets and I was hooked. Almost transferred there but the money and credit process was overwhelming. I've been part of two UT alum groups since then, ha!
Grad- Gardner Webb University, M. Div.
Georgetown College, M. Ed.
"Count it down with me. Five, four, three, two, one.
The national champion is clad in Big Orange!"
Stationed at Ft. Campbell so I went to Austin Peay.
One of my favorite memories from MTSU was when APSU would come for basketball games and all we heard was "lets go Peay", go Peay go.
Great story about that cheer. I was there when James 'The Fly' Williams was there. Unbelievable talent. One night I walked into the old gym, known affectionately as the 'little red barn', and there was a huge sign at one end. It showed a guy with a big afro shooting a basketball from behind an open zipper. At the bottom it read 'the fly's open, go Peay'. The humorless, admin types made them take it down to a loud chorus of boos. It may be the greatest cheer in college sports.
Stony Brook University
Couldn't make up my mind.
