In your experience, which fans just can't take some good old fashioned smack talk? Which team's followers take themselves too seriously and erupt with indignance every time you slight their team?
For my money, I've got to vote for Auburn. They've got a bad inferiority complex and it shows.

"When we step on that football field, everyone flips a switch. And it's on..." - Butch Jones
Bama by a landslide, but our fan base is getting to be like that.

See, I think that right now Bama is so good that most of them can just point to all of the winning and get over whatever is said about them.
Auburn fans feel like they have a right to be considered elite, even though they really aren't.

Totally agree with you... It's usually the less acclaimed school in a state with multiple good teams, like Auburn. The other big one is UVA for me. The rivalry with VT is big, but they always come up short.
I submit for your review.
Please be warned that the language is very vulgar.
That's a good one, but for clarity, I'm not talking about which team takes the football most seriously. I'm talking about which team takes themselves too seriously in the sense that they can't take it when you talk badly about their football program.
I say Auburn, but like someone else said...we are getting close...lol. If we don't get things turned around, we will be like Ole Miss fans of the 90s talking about the 60s!
I'd have to say that our fanbase is in the top 5. I would throw Texas and Arkansas in there as well.

It's the Tarheel fans here in NC. You can get them fired up in a hurry. And I like to carry a little gas with me to help stimulate the conversation.
BUTCH IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. GO VOLS!
Ole Miss is up there for me but they're just ignorant. To me its Bama fans. You can't have a conversation with a Bama fan without them say 'Roll Tide' or 'Rammer Jammer'.
Oh, man, Arkansas fans are terrible, especially if you throw out that they're not a true SEC team. Hit an Arky fan with that and watch them explode.
In that case, my vote is for USCw. I talk ish to USC fans all the time and you'd think I murdered Marcus Allen.
Come on going by just this board and the way it reacts to anything said Tennessee fans wins hands down and it isn't even close.
I wouldn't consider us sensitive per se.
We've been beaten down enough over the past decade to be sensitive. Or at least I have.
That's a good one. They're especially touchy about being the only consistently good team in a mediocre conference. They really can't handle being told how badly they'd get whipped in the SEC, or how LA is such a horrible college sports town.
Unfortunately I would say we are probably the most sensitive. I think UT fans have a serious inferiority complex when it comes to the rest of the SEC, even back in the early 2000's when we were right there among the top teams. I include myself with that as well; during the season im always scanning national sites like ESPN or SI looking for some praise of UT. Also, all you've got to do is look at the Chris Fowler thing that still gets under some UT fans skin. Or any time Chris Low says something negative about UT.
Sensitive - Bama followed closely by Georgia. Irrational - Tennessee followed by Arkansas.
Ahh this thread needs a northern point of view.
Ohio State fans get very butthurt, very quickly. Of course, in terms of basketball, I've never seen fans quite as bad as Indiana ones...
Oh man. That's a great suggestion.
THE Ohio State has THE worst fans.
I think one thing that gets under their skin is the Big 10 itself. Once they considered themselves on par with the SEC. Now they are competing for prominence with the Pac 12.
2 Down Votes My Point Made. Thank you.
I think our fans now are a lot like Indiana basketball fans two or three years ago. Sneaky sensitive fans are the University of Washington, you would think Napoleon Kaufman and Steve Emtman never left.
VANDERBILT FOOTBALL FANS AS OF 2012
