Is it just me or does this basketball team look poorly coached in several departments. It's hard to overlook our lack of consistently inefficient offense. Then we haven't played very good defense lately and rebounded poorly. Oh, and why doesn't Yemi play way more minutes than Hall? He is, IMO, our most effective post player. We have made most of our second half runs with him on the court.
I agree.. This team is a lot better to watch with Lopez and Yemi
something aint jiving and martin better figure out..why we look so bad with these type of players
and talent we have.....getting worser and worser....im stumped from last year to this year
even without maymon we should play better then this....going to be more and more empty seats
if something dont change...and i hate like hell to sound so neg-
Lopez is not an SEC player, but he's the only one who can run the offense and it look like there is a flow to it.
I agree. When Lopez and Yemi are in, the team seems to play harder. This is just a tough team to watch. We have talent, but we just cant seem to put it together. Martin better figure something out quick. After going to 6 straight NCAA tournaments, missing 2 years in a row isn't going to sit well with this fan base and it shouldnt.
Give Him Six!
I think Cuonzo expected (and needed) Stokes to step up and highly anticipated Maymon's return. Not to mention Skyler to shoot 40% from the arch. Trae Golden to improve more at the point and Kenny Hall to play like a Senior.
OK... so absolutely none of this has happened. Except the past 2 games Stokes seems to have found himself. Jordan Mcrae, and Josh richardson have stepped up as has Yemi. So now they have to figure out how to put it all together.
Once Maymon was deemed a red shirt, personally I chalked this season up to bad luck and look forward to our Elite 8 team that we had better have next season because I cant take football and basketball both in the toilet.

I see an offense that's getting guys good looks, and they're not making them.
I do think Makanjuola needs to play more, though.

What is their identity or offensive philosophy? I try to figure it out and all I come up too often is toss it around a few times and split the D and throw it up and try to go get it. I dont see much movement or screens or inside out or high/low etc.
I agree with Wes here. There's really nothing wrong with the play calling on offense. They run their offense thru Stokes as much as they can. But without another threat down low (like Maymon would be), and good outside shooters, teams can double and even sometimes triple Stokes. He is the only guy on this squad that can consistently put up big numbers. But when he is getting consistently doubled, we can't expect that. What we should expect of the players is that they hit the wide open shots that Cuonzo's plays create for them. This isn't on Cuonzo. And by the way, if you are on a scholarship to play basketball at ANY college, there's no excuse not to make free throws. We shot horribly from the line tonight. This team has a lot of work and soul searching to do. Pathetic performance tonight.

My main problem is that the whole team looks dumbfounded when a new defensive look is presented. If we had one guy who knew what he was doing we could've torn up that press. As much as I love Zo, that seems to be on the coaching.

I agree with this post 100%. We stand around and finally decide to shoot. They don't run any true screens. We need to work to get a lay up. Notice how other teams do it against us.
