the next head coach, it is my strong opinion that unless they have ties to Big Orange Country or the military, they should not even be considered. Think about it - since General Neyland left, Doug Tricky Dickey had some success and then screwed us over for Florida. Bill Battle came next with his Alabama ties, know how that ended. Johnny came Marching Home and enjoyed moderate success, then Coach Fulmer won a National Championship.
After that, everyone knows about the Kiffin (aka Mr. Trojan), saga. And now we have been subject to Georgia's own Dooley Debacle. Of course I know Dooley went to UVA, but I also know who his daddy is.
Long story short - let's get someone that bleeds orange, please!
"Old School"! A strong defense wins championships!
Ties to the military? Me.
Bleeds orange? Me.
Get the best coach out there. I don't care where he's from or where he went to school.
You'd turn down someone like Chip Kelley because he has no ties to Tennessee?
Absolutely not but I would rather have Chris Peterson...who btw has not ties to TN.
I can think of a certain former Grad Assistant from the Majors Era that I'd love to have. Although that's a pipe dream, I would like to see us bring Tee Martin to the offensive staff and I think that's realistic.
Tee Martin needs to be on the next staff along with JG and SP.
Whose the ROTC instructor on the Hill right now?
Maybe we name him interim coach the next two games and see how he pans out. Couldn't be any worse.
I really do hope we keep those two, given the great job they've done this year.
I hope our next coach is a grinder on offense who plays great defense. That's SEC football in my opinion. No one from the Big 12 or PAC 12 unless they have proven they can play defense. Chip Kelly is a great coach but I don't like him for Tennessee. You can't win consistently in the SEC by just trying to "out shoot" the other team. Too many great defenses.

I don't see Chip Kelly coming here. What do y'all think about Belloti? Would he be a home run hire, or is he basically the same guy as Fulmer?
I guess what I am trying to say is that when the Vols have enjoyed success, we've had a Big Orange flavor to the staff, whether it's been the HC or the staff. I would love to see Graham continue with the WRs, bring in Tee Martin for the WRs and perhaps a Bill Bates for the DBs. I guess my ass is chapped because of having to endure the Coach Sal defense this year . . .
I totally agree!!
I agree that it would be great to have a Tennessee flavor, but I also think we can bring in a "hired gun" who can learn to love the Vols. I think Bruce Pearl is a good example.
would love to have a UT guy but i want the best man for the job , this next hire is huge
Could do a lot worse.
