Just watched the Butch Jones introductory video - awesome. He's already telling the team that he believes in them and that they will win championships. Setting that mindset from day 1. I believe he will be a great motivator of those young men.
There was some stuff in there. Question: in the Dave Hart presser he said met with 4 coaches face-to-face. Jones, Gundy, Strong and Who?
I picked up that too and think it's very important for this football team. They've been told they suck for too long. Dooley had no problem saying "we screwed up the first two plays and i just didn't feel confident we could get the first down..." Dooley had no problem throwing his players under the bus.
1) I remember watching Bruce Pearl practice video's when he first got here. I specifically remember one that's probably out there on youtube somewhere where Pearl stopped practice and went off on the team. What he went off about was "swagger". He said "SHOW ME SOME SWAGGER!". He was very upset with how his team was carrying themselves and how they appeared to lack confidence. I'm not saying I want Miami of the 1980's or Deion Sanders during his FSU days....but our guys need some swagger and confidence that they are the best of the best. Dane Bradshaw thought and acted like he was an all-sec player for god's sake. Attitude makes a big difference and it looks like Butch understands that.
2) one thing I watched on all the candidates were their post game press conferences after a loss. Go watch a few of Butch's. Absolutely no throwing players under the bus from what I saw. Even after a 10-3 loss to Rutgers when his offense was terrible, he didn't throw any players under the bus. Fulmer was the same way and people would get mad at him over it. Good coaches protect their players and take the fall for their team. I think Dooley was just so insecure, he probably didn't feel like he could take the blame.
