You get what you pay for

  • I am not sure who would be the best coach for us, the good news is I don't have to make that decision. I do believe you get what you pay for. Pay the man the highest salary in the NCAA and expect the best coaching. If he doesn't produce send him on his way.

  • The initial salary should be based on what the coach has accomplished thus far in his career. You add incentives for wins, wins against rivals, appearances in the SEC Championship, winning an SEC Championship, and then bowls based on the level of the bowl game. That's just my opinion though. I really thought it was absurd to think money wouldn't matter with Gruden. Do I want him to come to UT? Hell yeah I do, but you can't pay the man upwards of a million or so more than Saban based off what he did in the NFL. I think he's got to be willing to start off around the same salary as Saban, and he can earn the right to be the highest paid coach. I don't believe so much in the "you get what you pay for" mentality. I think coach's should "get what they earn." I know the counter argument is Derek Dooley, but I have and still believe that hire was knee jerk reaction by Hamilton. I'm sure right now everyone disagrees and thinks we should throw the farm at Gruden....I guess time will tell all.
