Does anyone know what jimmy cheek said about Dooley there were callers that seemed to be upset about something he said about keeping Dooley
What channel, I thought the Dooley show was the only thing on in the 9 o' clock hour?
Edit: You're talking about radio.

Yeah it was on sports talk radio 990
Hyams said that from what he is hearing, Cheek feels that if the win out they should keep Dooley because it would cost too much to fire him. OTOH, he believes he will be let go if we lose one more game. That whole thing makes no sense to me because it won't cost any more to fire him if we end up 7-5 instead of 6-6.
if Cheek is really making the decision then he has more money than I think he does.
After seeing attendance yesterday, especially after half-time, and seeing how the only donor tent set-up north of Humanities was a Troy tent, I think Cheek better reassess where the financial bleeding would come from.
Thanks jersey I tuned in late to the show and didn't hear the statement but if that's the case then this could get interesting to say the least
Someone keep us updated on the Sunday sports talk show. I think it comes on at 11 in Knoxville. Be interested what Swain, Hyams and others have to.say..
I know that Cheek has told people privately that the decision on Dooley is Dave Hart's and he would support whatever decision he makes.
The only sure fire way to insure Dooley is gone after this year is have Neyland Stadium empty for the last two home games. That would make everyone in the chain of command take notice.
don't bet on it Grog. If only 500 people show up for Kentucky, Ryan will annouce the crowd at "just under 70,000"
Wow. Really? You think I'm lying about what I saw just to make UT sound better or something? You're WAY out of line on that one, buddy.

Wow! That's a pretty bold personal attack if I've ever seen one...
Not lying, just a victim of the necessary hyperbole in the Knox county media to not mention the emperor is unclothed. UT has the actual turnstile count from the games. Any chance they release it? Thought so. A brief glance at the major donor parking lot by the stadium yesterday was half empty with not a single tailgate party underway on Homecoming on a beautiful sunny football Saturday. People are not coming to the games. People are not buying the tickets, people are not talking and promoting UT football now as they were even 5 or 6 years ago.
Once again, way off the mark. Wes and I call them like we see them. I'm not sure how you wouldn't know that by now, considering you're a member here.
Look, there were a ton of empty seats yesterday even if my estimation was right. UT can't deny that, and I'm sure even Dave Hart and the other powers-that-be would tell you that. But UT always has chosen not to release turnstile numbers for football and men's basketball. It's not just yesterday. That's been their policy for as long as I've covered UT.

I would be shocked if Mister Cheek has much say in what happens with the coaching situation at Tennessee. I wouldn't fret about what he is saying. jmo
Re Hyams, I listed to the first part of the show and I don't remember him saying anything about Cheek specifically...he said those he had talked to said if we win out there's a chance Dooley is retained.
Re the attendance yesterday, I don't know what Ryan reported but both Hyams and Fuad Reveiz said they'd be surprised if there were more than 60k.
It's not as if 70,000 is gonna cut it anyway, so why would aybody lie about that? We've got serious problems and the money people are surely aware of it.
I agree. I wouldn't be too worried about Cheek's input on the coaching decision.
