They are great birds. They winter down here and some stay year round. Where I fish in Wisconsin I see hundreds and its amazing.
This was a kid that went to high school with me, cocke county no less, lost his gun rights and hunting license for life. Deserves every bit of it.

I have been seeing them on South Holston Lake in the early spring for several years now. Not too many years ago, maybe 15 or so, the TWRA was involved in a Bald Eagle reintroduction prgram, raising young eagles on platforms around the lake. Doubless the eagle you saw is a result of their efforts.
yes sir i do remember when they released 2 ,best i can recall every summer we stay at little oak camp ground 14 days at time ,and last year i thought we seen 1 up there on the lake but wasnt sure.
but we live on south holston lake in the summer ,me and the family set trout lines ,pull up in coves fish
and swim and go down to the dam and start up the bank on the left side checking them every 45 mins
hooked some big cats up and i mean big.
i cant remember how long its been since they released those eagles im guessing around 10-15 years
but im glad to see them making it,
volnut you must be up around bristol also?
i live 3 miles from the race track ,it flew by the night race just seem like a month ago now heres the spring race just weeks away, only if football get here fast enough lol
