Could Kentucky's Hire Effect Dooley...

  • Say Kentucky went Big (which is doubtful) and hired Bobby Petrino or another big name, could that effect Dooley here... It wouldn't look good if Kentucky the doormat of the league was making a push to become relevant in the league, and we stood status quo w/ statistically the worst HC in the SEC. I think if Kentucky hires a big name it would force our hand a little bit. JMO, I have no reason to believe it would happen but people would be pretty pissed around here if this did happen.

  • That's interesting to think about. I would take a petrino hire at Kentucky with a grain of salt. I believe it's just a stopping point for petrino. Just a way to get back in the game and find another job he really wants!

    +1 Good point/question.

That said, I don't think it changes much. How many coaches out there would be considered better than Petrino that we could realistically hire? If they hire Petrino, and we get Mullen or Smart, Kentucky would still have the bigger name/better coach.

I do hope they make a big hire thought, because I think it ensures that WHEN we make the change we will one up them.

  • I don't think it changes anything. I don't think Petrino would stay long if hired and I think our staff controls their own destiny. There's no realistic home run hires for us so I don't a change being made unless the bottom falls out like last year.

  • You always have interesting topics, Drizz.

  • Good question. Who knows who they'll hire. I'm just wondering if KY don't somehow manage to put together a game for Joker and beat UT two years in a row. That will really set the board on fire.

After last week's game nothing is guranteed with this defense.

  • You make a good point that Kentucky is a very likely landing spot for Petrino. They prove with Calipari that ethical shortcomings aren't really an issue for them. They also experienced Petrino up close and personal during his days at Louisville.

Impact on us if it happens? Minimal at best. It would take Petrino years to rebuild Kentucky into a contender. Rich Brooks did a decent job in his day, but Joker ran it into a ditch. By the time a Petrino team could be a threat, we'll either be riding high or looking for our fifth head coach in less than a decade.

  • The madman from Philly does have good topics and posts. His rating is 67, which is why ratings are BS on this site.

Agree with people but add no value - 99
Actually have an interesting view - 67

We have had our differences at times and drizzle has posted some stuff that deserved down votes especially early on but as of late he has made plenty of good points.

I'm not gonna lie I don't hate Bama, I don't really hate any SEC team (which doesn't make me a True Vol, but I've accepted that) besides Auburn. I will always cheer SEC in OOC games except when Auburn plays because they have the worst fans and cheat more then anybody IMO.

If UK hired Petrino, it would be a huge slap in the face of Louisville. There's no love lost between the two schools, and in a odd way, hiring Petrino would be revenge for Pitino coaching at Louisville...

Great point. Instead of tit for tat, they could call it Pet for Pit.

I don't see Kentucky making a hire before we are also looking.. I expect we are going to be looking real soon..
