From inside the Bama offices, I've heard that the players absolutely loved this guy and a lot of the recruits were led to his office on visits (he couldn't recruit on the road.) Lot of Bama people think he's an up-and-comer who'll be a very good coach and recruiter who relates well to players. Don't know if any of it is true, and we all know the Alabama brand recruits itself these days, but those were encouraging words to hear.

Maybe he can bring back the fire on the sideline we all enjoyed when Trooper was down there. It always seemed the player gave a little bit more just to see Trooper jumping around and having a great time. Tennessee needs another coach that can motivate the team in that fashion.

As long as there's a little more bite to his bark than Troop's, I'm all for it. I think we may see Palermo be fiery, too.

Although interesting, I don't care if a coach was good in College, The Pros, etc. I care about them elevating the level of play with each individual players. He has a good record from Bama and players love him. Great news!

I'm loving the fact that he's a Bama native who can grab some of those future recruits. I also appreciate Dooley for giving up and coming African-American coaches job opportunities on his staff.

Maybe one of the most commonly overlooked positives with this hire is using 2 guys to coach DBs, which should help to maximize the team strength on D. I hope we're improved at both DL and LB, but we're better, deeper and more talented, barring the dreaded injury bug again, at DB. Let's coach 'em up! I like it.
