Da'rick Rogers

  • Im sure alot of you could care less...so save your comments. But is he eligible for the Draft? I think he actually left on a good note....he just didnt get along with Dooley, and hes actually spoke highly recently of the UT program

    Yeah, he didn't get along with Dooley. That would explain the multiple failed drug tests and multiple conflicts and fights with teammates and coaches. I'm sure the NFL front offices will see it that way. He'll get drafted and probably fairly high, but his actions have consequences and he is about to find that out in his wallet.

    Not saying you are wrong... but he does consistently still talk good about the the Vols, which I really think the coaches can point to down the road when recruiting WRs.

    The real test will be Sunday Night Football. Does he say, "DaRick Rogers, Tennessee, " or "DaRick Rogers, Tennessee Tech?"

    That is, if he ever earns a starting spot on a team that plays SNF.

  • Jersey Vol, I assume you are in, from and/or have ties to NJ. I have an off topic question for you.

    When I was in UT during the 70's, there were tons of Jersey students. I was always told it was because we were relativelly cheap but still close to NJ.

    I have been really studying the Top 247, and it confirms my suspicion that NJ is a hotbed of blue chip talent (but not NY). I have long believed that NJ should be a major target area for UT. We would have a strategic geographic edge on all other southern power-houses. Knoxville is almost as close as Columbus, Ohio.

    Any thoughts.

  • Dooley enabled him and bray and emboldebed them to act like punks and that's just what they did. He will be a very good pro player, not sure bout the 'tude or how far that will get him but he has the skill set to be a crabtree type guy. Hope the humble pie makes him better, always liked him but he's got to check himself. Good luck to the guy.

  • As bad as the whole Da'Rick thing turned out, I still like for my image of him to be that catch in the endzone between the 2 Cincy guys. Holds the ball up in the air, sitting on his butt, helmetless, and smiling like a kid in the candy store. Not seeing CP, JH, and DR on the field at the same time this year was disappointing.

  • Da'rick was a better pure receiver than Justin Hunter or Corderrale Patterson in my opinion and I know he didn't get along with Dooley but that's still no excuse to act so ridiculous that you get dismissed from your team.

  • Has Rogers said anything against Dooley since he left? I am not aware of anything and he could bash him all he wanted. Maybe I missed it.

    I am not saying he does not but I think an arguement could be made that he liked Dooley and appreciated multiple efforts to keep him on the team. It was Rogers who "chose" to leave from some reports. Some reported he refused to take his punishment which was out of Dooleys hands........1 game IIRC.

    Anyway......he is not the 1st nor the last elite player that every coach deals with a bit differently than a guy who is not getting PT. Even at the NFL level this happens and Dooley is not at all alone in his efforts to keep elite problem players on his team.....Saban has done it and Spurrier and Meyer and I am sure coaches at ND, Stanford and others do too.

    Haven't seen him say anything against Dooley, but from what he says about UT, it sounds like he blames nobody but himself.

  • In life my belief is we must first fall in order to learn how to get back up. I believe Da'rick did "mature" after his dismissal. What he needs to be judged on is how he handles himself going forward. If he has truly seen the error in his ways then some pro team will be getting a potential big time reciever. My pro team is Da Bears and I would love to see them give him a chance.

  • I don't have bad wishes for him but talk is cheap. He'll be given a chance and then we'll see. Most NFL teams have far lower tolerances for knuckleheads than they used to.
