Dave Hart

  • I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Hart go and bring in the guy we should have hired last time as AD, Charles Davis.

Obviously Charles is a well-known national figure in college football. But he also ran a PGA Tour event in Orlando (obviously not an AD job, but not as easy as it sounds). He also, if I'm not mistaken, ran the US Olympic Training Center. The guy has administrative experience and would obviously be a great face of our athletic department.

Let him work as an assistant AD for a few years if he would be interested. It's a massive job, especially at the level Tennessee is.

  • too big a pay cut for him to be an Asst AD and I don't think USC asked Pat Haden to be an asst....but doesn't this University and AD need more "Tennessee" people?

  • Davis is very good at his job, and has a chance to rise to the highest levels in that field. I can't imagine him scrapping what he has accomplished in broadcasting to become an athletic administrator. It just would not make any sense -- he can make a lot more money on TV.

  • Hart is going through a process of merging athletic departments that have been seperate for years. It is impossible to do this without making enemies, catching some bad press, or making everyone happy. Sometimes what is right in the long run can seem controversal early. Combine that with having to deal with a fanbase that is hurting for some success from their football team plus a possible coaching search and you have a full plate. Our need for information reguarding all these situations has us reading 100's of people's posts full of "sources" and opinions. I myself feel overwhelmed thinking of it all. He has been a part of some big and successful athletic departments and I'm sure he has seen his share of these situations play out. Does he have Tennessee ties, no. Does that mean he doesn't have the university's best intentions at heart, no
You can't get where he has been and where he's at by being incompetent. I think the fanbase and alumni's patience has been strained over the past few years, but I am just going to let this thing play out. He has to answer to people as well and report his plans for going forward. I know the Board of Trustees are full of Tennessee people and that's the last line of defense. I guess we will all see what's going to go down sooner than later, so I hope for the best. Go Vols!

  • Having kinda watched Hart run the UA AD for several years, I believe you guys are selling him out without waiting for result. This is how he works, tight lipped business to the vest. He's a major upgrade to Hamilton as I believe time will prove.
