Davin Bellamy....do you guys really want him?

  • I know he's a big kid and I know there's upside and talent there. I also realize he fills a need we have especially with Lawson out of the picture.....but do you really want him after that tweet and the pictures of him potentially with a bong? Also everything I have heard from his mouth just has turned me off seems very self focused and a flavor of the week guy not sure the type of guy I want to represent us..... I want guys who bleed orange and white dane bradshaw kind of guys michael rivera eric berrys hard workers I could see him off the team in a year or two I have character questions with him Just MHO thoughts?

  • Yes.........we can afford the risk and we have no idea if that pic really represents a problem other than a dumb decision to take the pic and even dumber to tweet it out. I think he has a lot of talent and could be a really good WDE in a year+........It will be interesting to see if any schools bolt from him due to this incident though. This is one reason why I like 1 year schollies and not 4 year schollies (even though I am sure they have clauses in them)

  • Yes he is a talented kid.....and if he screws up then I'm confident butch and co will put him in his place. Discipline will not be an issue like the old staff

  • Why people freak out about pot but fully condone, and even brag, exploits involving alcohol, I will never understand.

  • Very much want him. I dont know the age of the OP, but this isnt exactly an unusual thing you see in the Bellamy photo (among those in there 20s)

  • Hells yeah. Not worried one iota about someone's bong on a table. Doesn't mean he smoked up.

  • Bellamy was at Oregon - I'm surprised there wasn't also an ounce of weed on that coffee table...

  • The picture was not taken in his apartment, and I highly doubt he would bring a bong from home on a plane. Plus, no one was using it, and chances are he was brought to that apartment with no knowledge of it being there since he probably knows no one at the school. Was it dumb of him to post the picture? Yes. But I think people were a little too quick to fill in the blanks on the story that is behind that picture. I don't think it should change anyone's perception of him.

I'm not freaking about pot but the NCAA does have it on their banned substances list and we have lost talent in recent years due to positive results....and we are already on probation I just don't know I think it looks bad to have someone come to UT and then not be around a year later due to off campus problems such as fights drugs drinking DUI's stealing etc etc. I just wouldn't want to risk that maybe CBJ is way better at player managment then Dooley, but it still can be a handfull and disrupt locker room chemistry. Which considering our schedule this year it's probably the last thing we need. I'm not saying Bellamy is guaranteed to be that way and maybe CBJ is great with this stuff but I wouldn't risk it being under probation already

  • Yes...I want talent and there is no proof that he used the bong. I want Dane Bradshaw types but I also want Arian Foster types, players with talent who may not bleed orange and white but still love the school.

I'm 75 better show some respect... I'm kidding I know it's pretty usual just about everyone I know smokes it up just wouldn't want a kid more concerned with the spotlight an parties and what college football gets him over college football itself

And this will cause a lawsuit the first time a UW or CU player is penalized by the NCAA.

  • I still want him, b/c he fills a need on our team.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of legal substances that are banned in sports. I would imagine it's no different for pot in Washington and Colorado.

It doesn't mean it won't cause a lawsuit. Those "banned" substances you mention all supposedly give athletes a competitive advantage...what, exactly, does pot do for them? lol
