The CheckerBoard

Saw the team from a distance today. They looked good out there. It was awesome watching them as i had a very good view from the grassy knoll. That field is close to my house so walked over to get as close as i could. Very impressed with what i saw in general. They also look very big, compared to the last year or so.

Our D has a bunch of people who will play on Sundays and has size. Certainly there are weaknesses, but I expect our D to come up with enough big plays each game to give us a chance to win.

Ya after reading this one I feel much better about the Defense overall. You can fix mistakes eventually and they have 3 weeks to work as many of them out as possible. After reading the other story about the running game I was beginning to worry about the Wolfpack find a running game. Still might, but feel better about our chances.

Side note the Wolfpacks projected #2 will be out for the game with an undisclosed injury and unknown if it'll cost him the season or not. Only that surgery will be required.

With the focus on improving the run game this year, could that diminish the pass blocking? O Line was very proficient at that last year. Or could it just be them adjusting to Sal's new D which focuses on pass rushing? Glad to hear good news about the D against a very potent offense. GO VOLS!

Guys, I am encouraged by what we are hearing but we have to consider it's a scrimmage. The dynamic changes when you can hit the QB, when your defense is experimenting, when your offense has much more experience...it's called a practice scrimmage for a reason. As for me, I am looking for general things like speed, aggression, timing... . We have a long way to go and a short time to get there...or so Jerry Reed said.

ryan... not much listed or talked about at the LB position. Lathers was held out....so who did they plug in that position? in what little video i saw.... #30 was getting run by on several occasions...any idea who that is?

anyway... the 292 yards the rb's piled up would probably be on the LB's not pluging the holes or the DL not holding gap / responsibility....

just wondering why not much talk about the other LB's.... bad day? obviouzly we need herm out there at all times!!!!
