Several of these outlets said "front runner" or something similar as opposed to next coach. There's a difference. Could turn out to be non-news by tomorrow.

I sincerely and respectfully disagree. Wes, Ryan, and Kevin are very good at what they do and they just will not throw out information that 1) cannot be confirmed, or 2) can be viewed as a rumor. 247 Sports has set a very high bar that other team sites, frankly, cannot match. I'm sure you've seen the dumpster fire that is VolNation....this site will NEVER be that. I'm sorry but if uncorraborated rumors are what you seek, you just will not find them here...and I for one, am quite thankful for that.

I'm with you Will, but obviously there's something to Strong when it's even being reported by ESPN. Even if it doesn't work out, I think we all here want to know what's happening. Nobody will hold W/R/K responsible if they something falls through in the process. We, or at least I, want to know where it's at in the process.

Again, this probably sounds far worse than I want it to. I LOVE this site and couldn't imagine not having it, but this is a big deal to us, and I want as much information as possible even if they occasionally get something wrong by reporting it early. This is a coaching search, not Watergate!

I have to disagree. I was the first one to post on the site the Bielima hiring and that Auburn had hired their coach today. I did quote sources, but I had no idea if Barrett Sallee and CBS had good sources. The reason I can do that is I am just a poster. Hey, I feel good because I was right and I was first. But the staff can't do what I did. Because if they jump the gun we all go nuts and assume that it is the Lord's Truth and then 100 other outlets quote the staff as truth. What these guys post have consequences.

This is the best site in all of college football for two reasons This is the best staff, period. And the posters on this site are mature, sane and gracious to each other. Give the guys a break. They play a different role than those of us who can post anything they want.

And by the way, TOS, has posted and retracted more than a few times over the past week because they jumped the gun. Not here.

i would rather be patient and my info be right instead of 1st and be wrong.

I'll take 247 accuracy over first to report anyday. At least then I don't have to worry about back tracking things to people I talk to in Alabama. Wes, Ryan and Kevin do an amazing job especially in a situation that has so many different people saying so many different things and seems to me that most of the stuff people say is false.

Over the last week we have had news about Gruden, Fisher, Gundy, Strong, etc, etc. And any time anybody has been mentioned on 247 I have always read "We'll believe it when we see it" or some other type of phrase. That to me says hey guess what? It's a rumor until we tell you otherwise.

Anyway off my soap box.
