Do we come out passing against NC State?

  • Much has been said of Ansley's 13 picks last year. You have to be aware of their ability to create turnovers, but they did give up some yards in the passing game (224). Not horrific, but I don't think we need to shy away from the strength of the offense just because of those gaudy int numbers. Just make smart decisions and be aware of the coverage, and there ability to recover when they are beat. Guys will find ways of getting open.

  • I think they will try to establish the run. States front seven is weak and inexperienced. If we can run the ball well enough to get them out of the nickel we will have a good night.

  • If Neal and the offensive line can produce some first downs via the ground on the first few possessions, Tennessee can then show how dynamic their offense can be.

I am hopeful that the run game turns a corner this season. Antonio Richardson, just to name one on the line, has a chance to be a star at Tennessee, so I hope that the line gels and Neal reaps the benefits of their improved run blocking.

If Neal is a 1,200 yard rusher this season, my prediction is this--Tennessee finds consistent success on offense, wins 8 or more, enough to keep Derek Dooley around past this season.

    Go Vols!

  • We need to run it better to have SEC success so we should try to establish it against NCSU. But I suspect their wil be alot of passing regardless.

  • My guess is that we'll go predominantly run on the first series. JMO, but I think the coaches really want to see if we can run over some people. Then, when they bring 8 in the box to slow the run down - we light it up through the air!

  • Too much emphasis was placed on improving the run game during the off season. We KNOW we can throw the ball. We need to PROVE we can run the ball. It will depend on ncst's defensive formations, so they may challenge us to run it first by running a nickle, if so Tiny, Neal and company will oblige. That will open up the bread and butter fireworks we all want to see
