Yes, absolutely. I hope not, but if that was the case, I would not be shocked in the least.

  • Umm, yes? We've been trolled by him before. And anyone not a Hogs fan knows he's trolling Arky.

    GBOorGoHome

  • I just don't see him leaving ESPN.

    From the Arkansas board:
Our AD was down to two coaches, with one slightly ahead of the other. Some say Long (AD) had his man. And then all of a sudden Gruden stated his interest in the job through a third party.

I just want this search over ASAP.

No need to be rude and hostile. I wouldn't bet a single cent on Gruden going to Arkansas.

  • As I have said it before I will say it a million times. If a big name coach continues to mentioned and published in articles about joining a program, its because someone from his PR camp wants to keep getting his name out there. J. Gruden obviously is not stopping all the claims and more than likely is loving the pub. If he lands at Arky or Tenn thats another story but all this rumors and media pub is because he wants it to happen.

  • I blame Jimmy Sexton for no reason other than because he's Jimmy Sexton.

He's been trolling every single NFL and college team that's coveted him since he got fired from the bucs. If he hasn't taken a job since then... Why now?

  • I think his interest is legitimate but there is a gap between having legitimate interest and actually making the decision to do the job. Since he should be available to start almost right away, I would expect him to make a decision one way or another fairly quickly. At least I hope so.

Jimmy Sexton is not Jon Grudens agent.

who were the final two? Patterson and Gundy?

I know about Sexton. I was being sarcastic.

And yes, Patterson and Gundy... supposedly.

He's under contract to MNF for, I think, four more years. He is legally bound to, at the very least, finish the season with them. I doubt that they would let him start work as a college coach and stay in the booth.

it's been said before, but I agree that Gruden enjoys the spotlight and having his name out there. Keeps him relevant, especially if he wants to return to the NFL. And i dont begrudge the guy for it, it's good for his employment prospects. People start talking about him, which causes others to talk about him, and before you know it, NFL owners start thinking "that Jon Gruden guy, man, what a great coach! We should hire that guy! Lots of teams seem to want him..". So count me as part of the group that is wait and see on him. He can maintain with a straight face that he has done nothing to encourage the speculation, which is true. But he sure doesnt do anything to dispel it either. And i think all this attention makes him a more valuable commodity at ESPN as well.. So it's all good for Gruden.

  • Well it looks like Arkansas may make an announcement this weekend or early next week. This is being reported on a few different sites, so don't shoot the messenger. James Franklin, HC at Vandy, may now be another option for the Hogs.

I don't know what to think.

I wanted Phil; however, I like this up-tempo style of play that D'Antoni has implemented. World Peace seems to playing (and scoring) a lot better, Howard is still getting his numbers, and Kobe is more of a facilitator while Nash is out with an injury. I'm excited. Anyone is better than Mike Brown.

  • Mike Brown what a terrible hire, actually Lakers should have hired Brian Shaw after the Zen Master retired but Jim Buss hates Phil and anything associated with him that includes his sister Jenny

Same here, man. If an announcement is made this weekend or early next week then it will not be Patterson or Gundy... I'm starting to worry...

I appreciate you coming on here and carrying on a decent conversation without the name calling etc. And thanks for the insight from the Hogs point of view. Good luck in your search.....
