Does it strike anyone else as odd...

...that Brian Kelly left the country for a week of vacation right after the national championship game? With less than a month to NSD and big recruiting weekends ahead wouldn't you think he would wait to take vacation until after NSD? Or is Notre Dame's commitments so solid that he doesn't have to worry about it?

People up here in Philly are going crazy wondering what the hell is going on. Gonna catch some sports talk radio at noon to see the vibe of Kelly.

Leaving the country is the weirdest part. He just got whooped by a coach who said, "being the Alabama HC is a full year job. We are behind in recruiting, and after two days we will be starting on next year," while Gatorade was still on his shirt. One kind of message does it send leaving the country now?
I think he is way to volatile to work in the pros. You can yell at sophomores, you can't do that all day with pros.

I was thinking later after the original post that maybe that's how things are done outside the SEC. I don't know. I've been so used to the recruiting shark tank of the SEC that maybe non-SEC head coaches do take trips overseas in the middle of January. It just seems strange to me.

If Kelly exits it would only be logical that Butch Jones would end up in South Bend thus opening up Gruden to Knoxville!!! I never stopped believing

The guy just got hammered in the NC game and needs a break. He hasnt stopped working when everyone else has taken a small break (maybe). I say he will be back and ready to recruit.
