    1. Terrible 2nd half timeout at own 4. 2. Terrible Clock Management to end Game. 3. Terrible Decision to initially go for it on that 4th down in the 4th, we got very lucky.

Hey we won the game but it was ugly. Bray was rusty as expected. But it was good to see the team show some heart and win a close game. But the mistakes by the coaching staff were tough to ignore. I will finish with Get Teague the hell off the field and put in EG Baby GO VOLS.

Man, don't worry about all these people getting onto you. Anybody could see the game management was terrible yet again. The playcalling is iffy, yet again. Do I have to mention yet another throw in the middle of the field at the goalline??? Just please for the love of everything that is good in this world, stop throwing in the middle of the field when near the goalline. It flat-out aint working and is COMPLETELY obvious now. It turned the game completely around.People ignoring that just have orange-shaded glasses on and don't want to hear criticism, even when it's legit criticism.

Besides the horribly coached offense, that defense showed out tonight. I figured they matched up well to Vandy and I was right. Made adjustments to the underneath stuff as evident by the two interceptions late in the game. Wilcox will be a stud when the secondary gets more speed. Have to keep him on staff. Get the JUCO haul in recruiting and the defense will be very, very solid next year. Up to UT standards.

I like to think long-term. This season means very little. I want to know we will be in good hands moving forward. It's just worrisome to see a head coach at Tennessee make really bad decisions game in game out. I am aware the talent on this team sucks, and that isn't his fault. But what he can control is timeouts, clock management, substitutions, and such.I will support Dooley, but it is certainly fair to criticize him when he does a sub-par job.

Very true... People are just looking at the end result. Seems like me and you are one of the few focusing on the process. When talent is subpar, the process better be pretty good. Right now it's not and is worrisome.

Sadness... I've been down voted for stating truth cry

I personally have stopped down voting peoples opinions unless it is just way out there. But to stat what you think is the truth might be pushing it. You say it is the truth when really it is an opinion. I am not going to judge dooley on his playcalling because this is year 2 for him(year 1 if you really think about where we started). The lack of depth and experience still is killing us, but that is not dooleys fault. I have not heard one person say they thought it was a bad play call going for it on 4th and 2 at the goal line because it worked. I don't think they are calling bad plays because the team is doing they best they can with what they have, just my opinion though.

Thanks for proving my point... What did they call in that situation??? A FADE to DaRick. I called that many games ago. After the South Carolina game, in fact. About time they tried it. If it failed, I would've been OK with it. Look in my archive. I promise it's there.

And please tell me how I'm wrong? Similar plays have miserably failed three separate times in three separate games in three similar situations! All three interceptions have occurred right at the goalline with passes to the middle.Trying to keep pushing that button is just bad play calling, pure and simple. The Vandy guy was just sitting on that route. He knew it was coming. Would you keep putting your hand on a hot stove??? Of course not!! Why??? Because past experiences told you it was a major fail!!

Seriously would love to see a stat as to where most passing touchdowns are scored and where most interceptions are thrown from about the five-yard line and in (i.e. where the defense is jumbled in the middle, especially at the goalline). No clue if there actually is such a stat.

  • I would just like to know why we took a TO at 2 seconds and then sit on the ball. I'm not saying I disagree with going to OT at home with the momentum in our favor, but why call time out and have to snap the ball, why didn't we run the clock out. If the idea is that with 2 seconds you want to throw a hail mary (and it didn't look like they trusted Bray's arm to throw it more than 20 yds down field) put in Worley for one throw, I just don' t understand that last TO. With that said, GO BIG ORANGE, the game last night was the most fun I have had in Neyland in a long time and it was great to send the seniors out with an emotional win and a chance to go bowling and maybe even a winning record.

He should've taken the timeout with 13 seconds, not 2. Dooley panicking that's why he took it with 2. There could've been 13 seconds left and we only needed 20 yards to give Palardy a chance. Just not smart by Dooley.

Doesn't the final score prove that it was a good decision to play for OT? If I were Dooley in that situation, I would have had zero confidence in Palardy. I'd rather go for a TD from the 25.

Turns out he didn't even have to do that.

Chaney maybe simply using what he has. Our passing game was obviously our strong suit this year, and he has 2 young QB's (Bray & Worley) who apparently can't manage the running game well. Also, the QB's (at least Bray) can make checks at the line of scrimmage. It's a little hard to tell what Chaney's calling and what Bray's checking out of/into.

Remember that we lost many of our SEC games this year against some of the top teams in the nation: LSU #1, Bama #2 (on the road), Ark #8 (on the road), S. Car #15 or so (at the time we played them) -- and we played all those guys without Bray, Hunter and 2 with a true-freshman QB who didn't know the system well (not counting guys we had missing on D: Janzen Jackson, Herman Lathers, Ben Martin (most of the year), Maggitt a game or two, etc). UT was walking wounded this year when playing the SEC's & nation's best.

How would the SEC's or nation's best coaches do in the same conditions?

I agree with this. When Simms was in the ball game we ran the ball more. Our running game is not our strong suit. You can't just coach a great running game. This is why we are still recruiting running backs and also corner backs. The staff can coach the DB's but you can't coach them from running a 4.6 to running a 4.3. It is what it is and Dooley is doing the best with what he has.

  • if we tried to run the ball no matter what we would lose a lot. Running game is better, but its not our strength.
