That's true but what do the fans and sports writers, etc remember about a fan base? The fans that are overreacting. Even Wes has said our fan base is very vitrolic and so has several of my friends from different schools. I have an LSU alum as a friend saying they always wanna get rid of Les Miles after one of his bonehead moves and he says even their fanbase isn't as bad as ours.

O wait those guys would have whipped our butts the last couple coaching regimes. Your argument is flawed man, Hugh freeze was a high school coach not all that long ago. Nick Saban got started at Valdosta state dude. I understand being critical and not agreeing with everything a programs does. Seriously though guys he hasn't even been the coach for a month give him a chance, why would any kid in the country what to come play for such negative fans, last I checked no one has ever won every game they ever played and landed every recruit they ever tried to get. Chill out and quit being so negative it's unhealthy for the program and no one likes a negative nancy cheer up buddy ;) o yea that number one player worked out great, o wait he didn't want to be here just like his coach. Butch wants to be here BAD and is a way better football coach than the last guy.

Really liked the way the Kiffin era worked out. Lets judge the product on the field. The best players in UT history were no more than 4 star recruits and most were 3. Of course Peyton and a few others were exceptions because they had talent and character. How are all those stars working for him now? Honestly do you really believe Bryce Brown was the best RB in the nation, much less player? I sure don't. Personally I'm more excited about the change in attitude, work ethic, and feeling for the program again than disappointed with the lack of stars. Very inexact science. Arrogant, you must be thinking about DD.

I'm gonna refrain from comparing Dooley and Jones as coaches based off 2 months on the recruiting trail. Call me crazy but I'll probably wait 2 seasons then see where we are as a program. If the team is regressing in all dimensions and there's a mass exodus of assistants due to CBJ being impossible to work with then I'll break out the pitchforks and torches on the UTAD.

Cincy Bearcats 2012 season record 10W - 3L.....UT 6W - 7L....Arrogance????? Big difference between confidence and arrogance. Dooley was arrogant, CBJ is confident. Didn't a Big East team loaded with 3* talent lay the wood to the Gators recently? Didn't Cincy beat a very much improved Duke team with virtually no staff on hand to prepare for that game? Right now the big east record in bowl play is very good. So yeah,....they weren't all playing top ranked teams in bowls, but were in bowls, and got the W's. So just because a new coach and staff are busting their humps on recruiting in the short time remaining, and by your standards are coming up short in some ways affords him the title of "arrogant"? You sir are sadly mistaken! GBO, and go CBJ & Staff!!!!!

Jones has won or clinched a share of FOUR conference titles in six years as a HC, at two different schools. His record over the last two seasons (excluding the Belk Bowl) is 19-5. That's not arrogance he's speaking from, it's confidence based on actual results.

I am very negative on this hire, the staff that has been put together, and the recruiting noise thus far. That said, I really like your post. You at least give some basis for your optimism versus the usual blind faith nonsense most post on this board. That said, I believe we are in for a rough ride. Just don't see the Central Michigan coaching staff circa 2007 making noise in the SEC. As you said though . . he is better than the last guy.

Interesting how JJ Watt was a TE for Jones in 2007 at C. Michigan. Left after one year due to lack of utilization and ended up being who he is today.
