Dooley on CBS this weekend

Per Austin Ward (@vols_beat) Dooley is goin national. Doing CBS studio work this week since UT is off.
Poor Phil is getting replaced everywhere.
I'll hang up and listen.

Dooley will be "pure gold" this weekend. This is great exposure and I foresee this to be an advantage in recruiting for us.

Dooley will be a part of CBS' pregame, halftime and postgame shows Saturday. The pregame show starts at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

I think Dooley knows this program needs positive publicity. (Taking a page out of Kiffins book) He has done more radio shows and television appearances in the last month than he has his entire tenure here.

With Dooley's mannerisms and speaking style, he's going to win a lot of recruiting battles down the road. This appearance will help get Tennessee in the door without even having to contact anyone. It's free publicity for Dooley and the program, and he'll make the most of it.

Sorry, guys. But as anybody who has done TV talk can tell you, you don't even need to wear pants. They only show you from the waist up.
I say this only partially tongue in cheek. Somebody, somewhere, may have done a spot sans pants.

I think you're right that it won't have much (if any) effect on recruiting in the short term. We won't sign anyone in this next class because CDD went on CBS. But what it does, it gives him (and by extension UT) national exposure. If you're a 15 year old boy (or his parents) in Dallas, Texas, you have no idea who the coach at Tennessee is. But when he shows up on TV once a year with his witty remarks and perfect hair, it means he won't be a complete stranger when he comes a cruitin in a couple years.

How many times did we see COACH Saban on Tv during NFL draft day. Exposure like that can only help.

Potential recruits will see Dooley on TV, and will probably like his personality and demeanor. That will get him some exposure and will get him in the doors of many future recruits' homes. It's not about the short-term benefits, it's about the long-term gains.
