Derek Dooley was initially coy with govols247 on Tuesday when asked about his team's academic progress this spring, but UT's football coach ultimately expressed optimism.

I will always be a Phillip Fulmer fan! Still wish he was the coach, but Dooley is a class act. Couldn't have picked a better replacement.

I met the guy and talked to him, but I have always wondered: Does he prefer Phillip to Phil? It seems so impersonal to see people refer to him as Phillip, especially since he's Southern and all us Southern boys seem to have nicknames.
Anybody know the story on that?

I hope Coach Dooley's optimism for academics is well placed. Would be a load off everyones' minds. Love that Coach Dooley and AD Hart have embraced Coach Fulmer and seek his imput. A Tennessee Legend for sure. Congratulations to CPF on his well deserved honor. Great stuff as always Wes. GO VOLS!

I sincerely hope this will help with some of the division among Vol fans when it come's to CPF.No matter if you wanted him gone,or think he got screwed,is irreverent .The fact is the man is a wininingNational Title coach,with a very good win %.He has earned and deserves all of Volnations respect.Besides it makes our fanbase look bad with all the trashing of the man in the last few years.time to let bigons be bigons folks!
