Dooley talks PSU players, Phillips

    NASHVILLE — Derek Dooley is still trying to bolster Tennessee's 2012 football roster, and Thursday night he discussed two avenues for accomplishing that task.

    I think we could use a little help anywhere on the Defense. It appears we have good talent in most positions we just need a little bit of depth.

    On offense it would be nice if we could look at a Tight End to replace Clear.

    But I know we won't get any of that I'm just greedy.

    I think the secondary is gonna surprise this year, but would love to add a couple anyway if there better than what we have. What base D does PSU run drizzle? The less we have to teach the better considering they will only have about 30 day's to learn.

  • Hey everyone, recruiting is EVERYTHING in turning a program around! Just look at the rankings on recruiting this year and I am getting concerned. We are 11th in the SEC and 28th in the nation! At one time we were guaranteed to be at least Top 10 EVERY year just by showing up and showing interest in a kid!

    Now we are behind Vandy and Ole Miss??? Something has to change and soon or we will be behind our two latest SEC additions, which are currently rated above us as well!

    I am not saying the sky is falling, but the shadows are pretty ominous! Let's get some 4 and 5 stars to help our perception at least!!

    I like Dooley but, this is year CRITICAL for him!! BTW, I would like to be relevant in the SEC again in my lifetime!! GO BIG ORANGE!! VFL!!!

    Gotta start winning more games before this happens. Kids want to play for winners.

    Also keep in mind that we rarely have a highly ranked recruting class at this point of the year. We typically close strong. Several of these 4- and 5-star players like to wait before making decisions. If we put up a good win total, the recruits will come!

    It's not where you're at in July, it's where you're your at in January. UT is in the mix for a lot of quality players, we just need a good season to pull them in.

    I think a lot of fans need to get off Dooley's back and get behind him and the team. He was handed a team with the equivalent of two lost recruiting classes not to mention the recruits and players that Kiffin ran off. Remember the 5 star quarterback ( now a Heisman contender at Clemson). That's almost a death penalty to most schools. We'll get through it.

    When you're winning 10-12 games each season, the recruits flock there (ie Kiffin at USC, it was only a few years ago USC was a middle of the pack team and didn't attract all the 5 stars and the win/loss record showed)
