Double Spartan

  • Sparty-- welcom to Vol football! Hope you and your friend have a great time and beat the Wolverrines and espescially ohio state. Compromise a little and wear your green MSU jersey but splurge on a UT cap. You''ll be recognized as a Spartan fan coming to a really good SEC game and that you are suppoting the Vols while you are here. I hated to lose DeAnthony but hope he is doing well and wish him and your Spartans the best. DO NOT miss the Vol Walk!

    Thanks for the welcome!!

I've been trying to think of how I could wear green while still showing some sign of support. I like the hat idea, but I'm not much of a hat wearer. In fact, I don't own a single hat, not even an MSU hat (I know, shameful...). But I will think of something, even if it's a button or something simple like that.

If you see me in my green, know that I will still be cheering as loudly as I do in Spartan Stadium for MSU as I will be for your Volunteers.

I had a similar dilemma in undergrad. I went to FL a&m whose colors are orange and green but I still wanted to rep UT. I was able to find a green shirt with Tennessee written in orange at Champs Sports in the 5/$20 section

Really??? That's what we would call a "MAC-Level message board"...

I know. I am from the north. I understand sarcasm, especially on a message board...

I will be sure to lay my own sarcasm on a little thicker next time.

By the way, Arnett is starting to work his way into the regular playing group. We graduated all 3 of our top receivers last year who played about 99% of the WR minutes. With his experience at UT, he was our leading WR in both career catches and yards, so there was plenty of opportunity to come in and earn some playing time.

The reports coming out of spring practice and training camp was that he was very talented, fast and good hands, but he needed to learn the playbook better before he could move into the starting rotation. I would say right now he is our 4th receiver to see the field, but moving up. It seems like that's where he will be this year somewhere between 3rd-4th WR, which is still a pretty good spot to be. We have a lot of talent at WR behind him (with no experience), and the same can be said for those ahead of him, so this is very fluid. He could easily move up to #2 receiver or drop to 5-6 receiver. So time will tell... But he certainly has a good attitude, has gelled well with the team, and we are very happy to have him!!
