Downs still on track for Tennessee

The tight end position takes awhile to master mentally and physically, but Brendan Downs was ahead of the curve until an August knee injury. Is that still the case, though?

  • He would get more opportunities if he didn't get false starts every time he was on the field. He seems to produce when he waits until the ball is snapped.

  • So, with the mention of Croom learning TE stuff, should we expect to see him moving to TE full-time or could he become some type of hybrid given his skills at WR that got him a scholarship to begin with? With his size and speed, what are the chances of him becoming a Vernon Davis type of physical freak at TE?

He's had one false start, while averaging ~20 snaps a game. That doesn't sound anything like someone that get false start penalties all the time.

  • Why did he state in the article on him this was the first false start in his career?

Really? One false start in his "career" and you slam him like that. C'mon.
