Dump Alexander

  • After reading the article " Alexander intriqued by new suitors " I think we should go ahead and dump him. He is one of those really loose commitments who is more concerned about concerned about those schools that have not heard of him His comment about he cannot wait for LSU and Alabama to start recruiting him. He is not a Volunteer and does not deserve be one, he obviously is not going to sign and is just using his commitment to us to get his name out there. I'm sick of these kids. If your going to commit then commit end your recruitment and stop everything.

    EDIT: Took out name-calling/personal attack.

I'm not so sure I would dump him, but I certainly would not put a lot of resources into trying to keep him. He's a good player and would be a nice addition, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

we can beat LSU and Bama for this kid, we should never dump a high profile recruit just because theres competition. once we get him on campus we'll be hard to beat for him.

I completely disagree. If the staff has the option to upgrade, then the commitments should have the option to upgrade.

  • You simply cannot "dump" a kid this early. I choose to think UT is good enough to get anyone and we will fight to sign Alexander until next Signing Day. Yes it's lovely and grand when a kid never looks around but you can't be scared that they will go somewhere else and cut ties.

Just would make us look weak IMO.

    Vols ain't ever scared. Bonecrusher.

But I don't think we need to dump him just yet.

I understand what you are saying and I feel the same way on the fact that the only reason he committed to UT was to get his name out there with the bama and lsu so when (not if) they offer he will jump ship so I hope dooley an co. have and keep a back up cause this kid is very shaky.

  • I certainly would never call a potential 5-star cornerback who has already committed "a ," either. Some folks need to be reminded that a lot of our recruits (and their parents) read these boards and that kind of public disrespect from our fans could certainly be a factor in sending them someplace else.

Edit: I took out name-calling in original post.

It's February. RARELY are any commitments not shaky. But hey what would be the fun of everything going exactly as you would expect. Recruiting roller coaster biggrin.

Okay maybe it would be better for stress but I get a sense of pride when a kid does look around and ....is like "yeah, Tennessee is still the place for me."

We will see about Alexander. And I am willing to bet Dooley will have a back-up plan no matter what he does.

I agree 100% with you, and I would love to have him at UT,I was just saying he sounds like he wants Bama and LSU more than Tennessee and probably to make him feel like he is the best because those two schools offered. JMO though and am subject to be wrong.
