Some would quickly scan UT's tight end depth chart and suggest the Vols have three somewhat proven commodities. Not so fast, according to coach Charlie Coiner. They have more.

Rivera has to get better at blocking. He seemed very soft last year. His production tailed off the later the season went.

To be fair, his production could have tailed due to the qb changes. There is no denying that the quality of qb play was so much worse the last half.
As for Rivera's blocking, he absolutely needs to improve. I read somewhere that he has had a better approach this spring. I also think Clear will be a better option to help and I think he will have no problem with sealing the edge or helping off tackle.

I think all 3 TE's will have good production this year. If our running game is even average while having Da'rick & Hunter on each side then the middle of the field should be wide open for Rivera and the jumbo sized Clear. Exciting possibilities at this position.
