Eric Gordon

  • I know we're all praying for Lattimore to have a speedy recovery but it doesn't sound good at all. I think we also need to pray for Eric Gordon to hopefully find peace and comfort with all this. I couldn't begin to imagine how he feels even though it wasn't intentional. I know injuries are a part of the game but there's more to life than football.

+1. Especially considering I've seen many people (not necessarily on this board) giving him a hard time for a "dirty" hit. That hit was anything but dirty. It was just unfortunate timing with Lattimore's leg being firmly planted when EG hit him. Injuries do happen but I have seen nothing that would indicate that we have any "dirty" players on our team and I hope no one directly gives EG any grief about this incident. I'm sure it's nothing he's proud of. Best wishes to Lattimore on his recovery. I think maybe more so than the physical aspect, Lattimore will have a harder time mentally recovering from this incident. Just a sad situation.

Are you nuts he went in with the top of his helmet first to his knees.
Dangerous and stupid hit. Intentional or not that is bad football
That's not part of the game.
Eric should resign from the team.

Lattimore was going to be a 8 digit millionaire.

You're crazy. absolutely crazy. Are you suggesting that because Marcus Lattimore is a fantastic pro prospect that other players shouldn't play hard when trying to tackle him for frear of hurting him and ruining his pro career?

and it is part of the game. I've never played SEC football, and i'm willing to bet a bit of money you've not either, but the game is so fast that things like this happen from time to time. Its very unfortunate, but to suggest that it was a dirty play and one that was intentional is just crazy.

Also, I think lattimore can still be an "8 digit millionare". Look at Willis McGahee.

1st post....hmmmm. Smells like a certain Gamecock poster who's hellbent that this was a dirty play.

    Ridiculous blather of a post.

I haven't seen it officially confirmed, but if Lattimore had a fracture very near the knee joint, either above or below, his road to recovery is about 50 times harder than what McGahee went through. Joint instability is one thing...leg instability another.

Haven't seen it officially confirmed either but if true, his entire knee is shot along with a fracture right above the knee. I'm just hopin and praying he can fully recover.

Man I hate it for this kid. I heard broken femur, broken patela, blown ACL, LCL, MCL & PCL. If true, and I pray it's not, his knee was totally shattered. Just aweful. I've never heard of such a devastating knee injury. Please pray for him & his family.

Wow I can't believe you think he done it on purpose, these are young men on the field playing their hearts out for their team. Gordon may have went in head first that is iffy, but he never had no intentions of hurting Lattimore. You should be ashamed of even implying this about this young man. I hope Lattimore has a complete recovery and plays in the NFL he is a great young man. I played football in high school was going to play in college a guy hit me the same way blew my knee completely out and broke my leg. I never played again by choice that is. Would I have made millions in NFL doubtful but who knows, but I never had one thought the kid who hit me done it on purpose it is the game we know this when we decide to play. The next play could be your last play. But in your defense you sound like you are Lattimore's friend and I commend you for sticking up for your friend or maybe you just wanted to ride his coat tails to the money just a thought.

Sometimes, bad things happen in football with no rhyme or reason in a fraction of a second. I don't fault Eric for anything that happened to Marcus, and hope he doesn't feel responsible for it, it was just one of those freak accidents that you hope never happens to anyone, but unfortunately with football being a contact sport it does. I've seen injuries like this about 3-4 times in my life and hope to never see it again. Praying for Marcus to make a full recovery.

  • You all are spot on. I live in Columbia and hate that it went down like it did. The majority of both fan bases understand the nature of the game and that it wasn't intentional. However, I've seen some go as far as to say that charges should be pressed against Eric Gordon. I think that when something like this happens people are too emotionally attached to the player and it clouds their judgement. If Lattimore pops back up nobody is even thinking about that play. It was a freak play. I absolutely hate it for him. I wish him nothing but the best towards a full recovery. I just don't get the point of bashing a player doing what he was coached to do.

Yeah, I saw something that someone used the term "assault". Yet, when Kelcy Quarles legitimately commits "assault" on a LSU player, nothing from them I guess. It a freak accident. Anyone who has ever played the game understands the risk.

There is never any reason for helmet first tackling.

  • As a gamecock fan, I don't think that anyone on Tennessees team would purposely try to injure lattimore. Football is a fast game, and legs end up in bad places at the wrong time when a tackle is being made. I'm sure Eric Gordon feels pretty bad, as would anyone. Just a sad injury to a great player and great person. And props to the Tennessee fans and players for the respect they showed to lattimore. I've never seen anything like that.

    Respect?
Silence and horror watching the replay?
Clapping as he was carted off?

He just lost $50 million dollars and will probably limp the rest of his life.

All you people who think it is just part of the game are delusional.
It's just part of the game getting your knee hit with a helmet after a guy is wrapped up.

How many times have you seen teams and fans clap as a player is carted off? It's a show of respect. You must be related or friends with Lattimore. All you talk about is how much money he lost which means you were hoping to ride him until he retired. If you ask Lattimore, he will tell you it wasn't dirty and it's part of the game. If you knew anything about NFL football, the money contract is the second contract. Lattimore didn't lose himself a ton of money if he truly can recover and come back. Lattimore is the guy that can be successful no matter what. You should learn from him.

He tackled like a 5'9" 170lber taking ons 6'1" 220+ back is supposed to....low and take out the legs. Just a freaky and unfortunate incident.
