Multiple sources close to the Tennessee football program confirmed to govols247 Thursday morning that UT's staff will lose one of its most valuable parts.

I assume we'll hear the whole story soon enough, but this one hurts! This is the ONE coach from the offensive side of the ball that I did NOT want to lose. Very frustrated, and hope we can keep our wide receivers who are committed...and I assume this means Patterson will be a Dawg. UGH!!!!

Well that stinks. Heckuva coach.
Wes or Kevin- do yall have any idea on whether this was a retirement or a 'retirement?' Beyond just wondering what's going on inside the program, I ask because it seems like the latter could put a serious dent in recruiting. If it's the former, I can't imagine this was some out-of-the-blue thing, and so Baggett and the staff would have planned around this. In any case, best of luck and wishes to CCB in his retirement/future plans.

Now that the Baggett move has been made public, I hope they are very close to announcing all the moves, including replacements. IF not, then this is not smart from a communications/perception standpoint. Since Baggett isn't leaving immediately for another job, there should have been no rush to announce his piece. As Wes is saying, the perception/outcome of this is really about the quality of the replacement. In the current environment, to move out a highly regarded assistant without out the critical step 2 defined is not a good approach. They could have made it worth Baggett's while financially to go through the motions for another month or 2. I guess we'll see.

Bring in Tee Marting as WR coach.
Fire Terry Joseph. Divy up his duties to Wilcox and Sirmon, creating an extra coaching spot.
Make Wilcox DC & DB coach.
Let Sirmon take over Recruiting Coordinator duties since he is already highly involved with it, and stay LB coach.
Let's have a true RB coach with Jay Graham or Larry Porter, or the like.
New OL coach.
Consider making changes with Eric Russell.
Keep Chaney, Hinshaw, and Lance Thompson in place if possible.
BOOM.
