For those complaining about Gundy's record this year:

  • Have you guys seen who he lost to?

Arizona: was on the road, but i will give this is a bad lost but he had a freshman starting for him this game at qb.
Texas: was ranked, might not be after last night, but he also had a freshman playing qb this game, and i think this was when Texas was still relatively healthy on D. They were ranked #11 at the time.
Kansas State: won the conference, also on the road.
OU: ranked in top 15, on the road.
Baylor: not ranked, but was on the road.

Also, the four seasons prior to that he had only lost a total 9 regular season games. And before Gundy became coach, OSU had only ONE nine win season since 1988. He just ran off four straight nine win seasons for them.

First, let me say that my wish list right now is Strong, Roman, Fisher, and Butch Davis in that order. But Gundy has had a lot of success at OSU and he needs to be taken a little more seriously by the fan base i think.

His two biggest rivals in the big 12 are Texas and Oklahoma.

    Texas since 07 in order
    Lost 38-35 (07)
    Lost 28-24 (08)
    Lost 41-14 (09)
    Won 33-16 (10)
    Won 38-26 (11)

    Oklahoma since 07
    Lost 49-17 (07)
    Lost 61-41 (08)
    Lost 27-0 (09)
    Lost 47-41 (10)
    Won 44-10 (11)

Vs non conference bcs teams he is 8-3 coming into this season

He was 11-15 vs the top 25 coming into this season.

  • Fortunately, Dave Hart doesn't read the boards so people can vent all they want. Gundy can coach and knows what he is doing. As do all of the other candidates Hart is interviewing. I'm pretty happy with the list to be honest.

  • I should have added to my post. I would be happy with Gundy as well. He wins. Hiring a winner is a good place to start. Who knows what a winner could do at Tennessee.

+1 This^^ exactly. It's hard for me to pick a personal leader from the likely candidates because all of them have their own pros and cons respectively. But the bottom line is that all of these coaches are successful, proven coaches and I feel like we would be in good hands with any of them, them being Fisher, Strong and Gundy, in no order. All of their pros outweigh their cons which is a very good thing for us, IMO. The next tier, for me, would be Fedora, Golden and Davis and I'm just hoping we don't make it to that tier. Good, quality coaches but not as much upside to me as the top 3. I'm very excited to see who Hart announces and I just hope it's one of my top 3.
