It would be a smart move by ETSU to get Fulmer involved somehow.

Yeah it would be a great move by ETSU. But, in the end, will it spark a lasting interest in the program?

When the program ended, it cost about 1.3 million to run a year, (according to faculty at that time so tifwiw) and only brought in 300,000 a year. One million down the drain every year.
It's no secret that no one cared. There weren't enough people at the games to play cards with. Look at the basketball team. Even when they were making regular trips to the NCAA tourney, the mini dome never could fiil up.

I'm all for it if they can make it work, but if it costs the students any extra then it's a shame and not fair to them.

I haven't been living in the area for some time now, but like Fulmer says, the more football being played the better. Of course, it would be painful to watch recruits, even if they weren't the highest caliber, picking ETSU over UT.

I go to a college in a similar situation to ETSU. Ball State applied to be in D1 football a few years back, and somehow they were accepted. Well that was all fine and dandy, the school built a new stadium and everything needed, but the team sucked, the town or students didn't support the team, and the school almost lost their D1 status. I guess in the NCAA you have to average a certain attendance figure to stay a D1 team, and we couldn't do that.

Luckily things worked out, Ball State started playing in state teams like IU and Purdue at the Colts' stadium to boost numbers. We had a certain coach named Brady Hoke (The same jerk who just stool Green from us) and he led Ball State to an undefeated season.

My point is if Ball State can do it in a basketball crazy state and a town that is slowly dying, ETSU can. Just have to lay the right foundation and get the support of the community.

Yeah you're right. It's not very conducive to watching a bball game. I remember sitting in there between classes wondering if something would ever fall on my head.

Fulmer's quotes suggest that he would be willing to serve as a resource for ETSU, but likely not as head coach. He'd be a tremendous ally to have if the Bucs are serious about restarting their football program.
