Fund raising drive for new coach

  • Just curious. How many of you would be willing to make a contribution to the UT coaching search? I know I would if money is what is standing in the way of hiring Gruden. Of course, most of us couldn't donate millions, but if everyone gives a little bit, we could raise a lot of money. And the big donors of course could chip in a lot more. It would also show that all of the fans are invested in returning UT to prominence.

  • If this board has 1500 members and if every member contributed $100 the total donation would be $150,000 which is 3% of an anticipated $5,000,000 salary for Gruden per year. That money would have much greater impact on the coonhound bourbon fund.

    I would gladly donate but I just don't think money is going to stop the deal from happening. If this doesn't get done, it will be because we aren't willing to make the administrative changes that he wants and/or give him the control he wants. We'll see if Cheek and Co. are serious about improving our football program like Hart claimed they were in his presser. IMO, if you get close to his desired salary and give him the control that he wants, HE WILL TAKE THE JOB. I just don't know if we'll do it and it will be a very big letdown if we don't.

  • If they came to me and said they had Gruden but needed to raise money, I would give at least $1000. But without knowing who we are getting or if we really need money because big-money boosters won't pony up, I wouldn't blindly donate.
