Vols go down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first. 1B Scott Price hit a rope to the warning track in RCF, but the RF made a great catch on the run before running into the wall.

Vols go down loudly in the second.

Freshman RF Christin Stewart smoked a fastball, but the CF made a leaping catch before slamming his backside against the wall.

ASU 1, Vols 0, going to Top3.

Godley looked much more like Godley that inning. 1-2-3 on two groundouts and a strikeout.

Freshman SS A.J Simcox made a great play coming to get the ball and throw a strike to get the leadoff man by a half-step at first. He's a really good-looking prospect.

ASU 1, Vols 0, going to Bottom3.

ASU starting pitcher threw just six balls total in the first three innings, but he just walked Simcox on four pitches to lead off the bottom of the 4th.

Vols had runners on the corners and one out and tried a double steal. ASU executed well, though. SS cut off the throw and gunned down Simcox at the plate.

I'm not convinced Simcox didn't beat the play, but ASU's C blocked the plate pretty well and got the call.

2B Taylor Smart then put runners on the corners again with another line drive off the pitcher, but Stewart flied out to CF to end the inning.

Three base runners but no runs for the Vols in the B4.

Vols true freshman right-hander Trevor Charpie loaded the bases but worked out of it with a strikeout and fielder's choice in the top of the 8th, but ASU true freshman left-hander Brett Lilek struck out three Vols in the bottom of the 8th.

ASU 4, Vols 0, going to Top9.
