Vols freshman lefty Andy Cox sat down the Devils in order in the top of the first, and the Vols took a 1-0 lead on freshman RF Christin Stewart's RBI single to RF.

Cox still rolling, sits down the Devils in order in the top of the 3rd. Nice diving play by Will Maddox at 3B to start the inning. He's a really good athlete for that position.

UT strands a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the 5th. Maddox called out on strikes. He didn't like the call, and I don't blame him, but it was close enough.

Two-out curveball got away from Vols' Trevor Bettencourt, and ASU adds another run.
Bettencourt got out of the inning a few seconds later with a popout to SS, but the damage was done.

The Vols wasted another one-out double — this one from freshman CF Vance Vizcaino — in the bottom of the 7th, but UT junior 2B Taylor Smart just made a brilliant play to open the top of the 8th. Tossed the ball directly from his glove to 1B Scott Price to get ASU's Max Rossiter by a step.
